Valley Cemetery

2 stars only because you can see what a beautiful old cemetery it used to be. Now it is rather neglected, only marginally cared for by the city, and overrun with homeless, their trash and blatent disrespect for the dead. The human feces was the pièce de résistance.

Valley cemetery is actually a very beautiful place. Peaceful and serene, it offers a glimpse into Manchester's past. A drive or walk through will provide you a good few minutes of relaxing enjoyment.

This is a beautiful cemetery but plagued by neglect. Many of the headstones are damaged, some toppled. The tombs and mausoleums are near universally bricked up (mostly with cinder block walls) instead of retaining their original doors. The chapel is boarded up It is home to at least one flick of wild turkeys, if not two. It is also refuge to some of the city's unsheltered, and their trash, is strewn about with abandon, though mostly off the paths.
