We went to the RmV in Braintree and we went there to get a car gifted. The line was a bit long but not too bad this was around Friday of June 17th or something like that. We found out we have to get an appointment for the process, until the rmv set us up for appointment next week. I mistakenly thought the appointment was on Monday which was the holiday of Juneteenth and so we came there for nothing since it was close. When we came back the next day when the appointment was set, the line was horrendous but since we had an appointment we could cut the line to go on a second line called ready to go. After we got seen by the staff worker at the register, she gave us a ticket so that we have to wait to see somebody else. And after we finally saw the other person around 15 minute wait time, she told us we had to make sure you have all the documents ready by going through rmv website and applying for them. After all that would be done then we'll get the car gifted. Happy she was very clear and concise and described the process to us where we don't have to feel we don't know what to do. She even started the process for us so that was pretty nice. Usually the rmv is a stressful kind of environment because everybody hates waiting forever in line until they're finally seen. But the process was pretty smooth for us that day. Thanks for reading my review.

Horrible. You know that it is bad when you are surprised by how bad the service is at a government office never mind how historically bad the RMV is. Well today's registry says "hold my beer." Under the guise of (COVID-19 Restrictions) they mostly operate by appointment only. I attempted to make an appointment on line only to get an error that would not allow me to complete the appointment. I then spent 3 hours on the telephone and was told that I had to walk in to an office. On Tuesday May 10th 2022 I arrived at the office a full half an hour before they open and waited in line behind a dozen or so people. After they opened I went in and waited in line for another hour, only to be told that they are not taking walk it's. Prior to covid 19 shutdown's limitations your average registry worker would have to take upwards of 30 people a day or more, because they allowed people to come in and take a number. Since covid restrictions, they operate by appointment only they've lowered it to under 20 a day so there's no reason to do let people walk in and wait because it will make them have to work harder.

I went to go renew my License and it was a nightmare. Now I understand why people get so frustrated. I brought in all the documents listed as proof for social security purposes and because now my employer stared out the first 5 digits of my social security number I had to settle for the regular ID. I think they should remove those acceptable documents if they can't accept them.

Getting in with an appointment was smooth and fast. The lady that helped me (counter 6) was fantastic, even when I didn't have all the documents I needed. She gave me a note with how to get what I needed and was extremely pleasant.

Did you ever get an answer for this? I know it used to be Thursdays but it seems to only show 9-5 now? I am wondering as if they still even do a late day? Anyone know?

Most states require your car to be insured in the state where it's registered, and registrations typically need to match the driver's current address. But, it's worth checking with your insurer to see if they have special options for students attending school out of state.

When you sell a car you have to sign over the title. If the title is not in your name you cannot sell it you would have to get a brand new title with your name on it
I would start by asking the vehicles insurance company for advice.
Go online. Dmv.State.Gov Dmv.Ma.Gov

As of 3 weeks ago they were still by appt. But I noticed some people were there that didn't have an appt. They just told the security guard that and they seem to get some business done anyway. You should just try dropping by on a slow time and take your chances it cant be any worse than trying to call them
No. You arrive at the RMV, they give you a number to text from your phone, and you receive a text back with your place in line. You wait in your car until they are ready for you. I usually have gotten in in less than 10 minutes.

The leinholder will release the title from the RMV without a lien if it is a electronic title, otherwise the the lien holder will send you the title after signing the lien release on the front of the title.

People need to Google these questions. That's what I do to get the answers. https://blog.mass.gov/transportation/rmv/rmv-adds-automated-learners-permit-tests-in-26-additional-languages/ Also, there is a russian driving school in Newton that can help you. I know that with a driving test you have to bring an intepreter.

There is a window that handles that procedure but you will need to pay ticket, possibly a late fee (if you were suspended for non-payment) and then a reinstatement fee which can be of different cost depending on reason for suspension.
