When I moved to the area one of the first things I was told to do is check out the amazing library. There were such a nice variety of classes. The computer teacher was fantastic. Check out Friends Bookshop too!

I always love my Saratoga library. My winning move was getting there early to both get parking and a table to simmer down and focus on my research only downer was the elevator was down and I had to struggle with the stairs.

Library hours may differ from cafe hours, Friends of Library Bookstore, Saratoga Room, etc. Attached is photo from their website of hours for other rooms. June 2018

Hello Chandan Sah, welcome to the city! I would recommend calling our Literacy and Assessment Librarian. She can help get you started with what we have to offer with classes and tutoring. 518-584-7860 x259.
Just to be a bit more thorough: 1-sided black-and-white printouts (we do not offer double-sided prints) are $0.15 per page. Color prints from the computers are $0.50 per page.
As of Saturday, they were still not accepting donations
I personally have not seen VHS tapes.
Thank you to the local guides for answering before we were able to. Remote printing is available via a 3rd party service called PrinterOn. To print an email, or a document attached to an email, you'd forward the email to a specific email address, and come in to pay and collect your print in the library. More information and details can be found on our instructional web page here: https://www.sspl.org/services/computers/remote_printing/
The Round Lake Library in Malta is part of the same Library System that Saratoga Springs belongs to. Items borrowed from any of the system libraries may be returned at any of the other libraries (unless otherwise specified from the library). Saratoga library books may indeed be returned to the Round Lake Library in Malta - they will usually make their way home in a day or two. "Check in" of the items occurs whenever the items are processed by the receiving library (i.e.: Round Lake) - in case there's a concern of late fees. Happy reading!
Or just call them up by phone and they'll renew them for you if the videos and books aren't reserved for someone else.
Hello S&A Stevenson, you can use both our website (sspl.org) and our catalog interface to search for items, and once in the catalog you can filter by author. Using the following link will give you all of the items by Gordon S. Wood that the Saratoga Library currently has to offer... Once there, please change the "Limit by" from "All Items - All Libraries" to "All items - This library only" and update the search result. We currently have 5 books by Gordon S. Wood: Revolutionary Characters, The Americanization of Benjamin Franklin, The Radicalism of the American Revolution, The American Revolution: A History, and The Idea of America: Reflections on the Birth of the United States. https://www.sspl.org/cat/au/wood,+gordon+s We hope this helps!
Hello Thomas. Yes, the library offers free public wireless connectivity throughout the building.
Under normal circumstances for book returns, while the library is closed, there are book drop locations at either entrance (both Putnam and Henry Street sides of the building). While open under normal circumstances the Henry Street book drop remains open and items can also be returned in slots inside the building near the Circulation Desk (closest to the Henry Street entrance). Under our current COVID Business Reopening Phased Plan, while the building is closed to the public, items can still be returned in the normal locations just as if the building were closed. Patrons who are part of our Outreach Program can optionally return the items themselves or wait until that service resumes without penalty. For any other questions, please take advantage of our Live Online Chat from the SSPL.org website where librarians will be able to more properly answer your timely questions.
Can I come in today and use your computers
The Saratoga Springs Public Library is offering a "NaNoWriMo" (National Novel Writing Month) program for the month of November. There are two more events this month - Monday November 18 at 6-8pm, and Monday November 25 at 6-8pm. Find more information on our events calendar: www.sspl.org A public group, called Saratoga Writer's Corner, that meets at the library might also be of interest. You can find contact information for groups that meet at the library at: https://www.sspl.org/services/meeting_rooms/ -- it's at the bottom of the page, listed alphabetically. Beyond that, we know of one Albany-based writers' group called "Shut Up & Write!" that organizes its group via the networking site meetup.com.
The head librarian of the Saratoga Room at SSPL suggests the Brookside Museum and the county historian for family genealogy in the town of Milton. Not exactly a library, but hopefully the best resource you will have in your search! Good luck!
They're hosting free appointments by an AARP Tax Aide on Saturdays, but I'm otherwise pretty sure the library only offers free forms, not assistance.

Food and drinks are allowed in the library. We simply kindly ask that drinks are lidded or capped (can be closed to reduce spills) and foods aren't messy or too strong in their odors. This is from our Patron Code of Conduct: - Non-alcoholic beverages in lidded containers may be enjoyed in the library. - Snack foods may be enjoyed in the library; however items that leave behind crumbs, grease, stains, or lingering odors are prohibited. Please clean up accidental messes and report spills immediately. The full policy, only if you're curious, can be found here: https://www.sspl.org/about/policies/behavior/
