Dear MD or NP, Thank you for the lovely visit on Monday. I enjoyed the distant, I’m wasting your time, and your symptoms don’t really mean you’re sick encounter. It was such a pleasure to have a swab shoved up my nose not once but twice, I swear I saw some brain matter on there as it was retracted from my already sore sinus and nostril. No worries, I didn’t need those brain cells. What I especially enjoyed was when you took the time to listen to my lungs and heart, instructing me to take a breath but yet not having the stethoscope touching me at all, I am sure the air in the room was much more interesting to listen to. You were very thorough when I told you my ear was aching along with my gland in my throat. You took your time looking into my ear with that funny little scope, which made me wince from the discomfort. Oh and thank you for acknowledging my discomfort, as you told me there was a lot of scare tissue in my ear. It was amazing that you took the time to embellish what you meant by that, how it could happen, and if it was something to be concerned with. I must also thank you for the lovely medications prescribed; Tessalon drops, Mucinex, and Flonase Nasal Spray (funny, I don’t remember saying anything about my nose or sinuses being an issue). I really appreciate you taking the time to listen to my ailments as a NP or an MD should. In the end you know that when I tell you; I am sick, not feeling well, and that something is wrong you recognize that I have lived with myself for more than 40 years, and probably know my body better than anyone. I love that after four days of your prescribed medications my symptoms have gotten worse. As my once non-existent nasal congestion is now in full swing and over the course of this week I have watch many colors of the rainbow present themselves. It has been quite the spectacle. In the end what I am most thankful for is my constant hording of antibiotics that I keep scraps of from previous legitimate illness diagnosed by an actually NP or MD that cares about their patients. Them listening and hearing not only the immediate symptoms but also in anticipation of the ones to come. Those scraps of antibiotics that will chase away the various colors of the rainbow in my nasal cavity and the lovely green hues I keep coughing up, oh how they are the true hero of this letter. Finally, thank you for the missing brain cells from the Flu test, loss of time at work, and you’re nonchalant demeanor as I am not dying on the floor of your exam room. All of these I am sure were a waste for you also. Sincerely, Try Caring About Your Patients They might actually know they are sick And are not trying to waste your time Thank heaven for stored up antibiotics UPDATE: I decided to go to Urgent Care on the Friday after my visit to the MTF (Monday) because my head and ear were in so much pain. Although I was tempted to use what scraps of antibiotics I had from other illnesses I didn't. I was diagnosed with a sinus and ear infection. I was treated with antibiotics and was feeling much better after just 24 hours of the meds. Thank you so much to the Urgent Care!!

Most of the people at this clinic are very helpful, except for LtCol Bell. Not once has she made me feel as though my health concerns were valid or worth the time and effort to address. From not even looking at me while she talked to me while she spent less than 5 mins in the room with me, to telling me, and I quote, that, “There’s nothing to do to fix it. Take ibuprofen.” I’ve heard people talk about how lacking military medical is, but never experienced it myself until now. I am absolutely floored at this doctor’s lack of empathy and professionalism. No one should have to wait 30 mins after their appointment time, only to be seen for mere minutes to be told to just “take ibuprofen.”

The clinic is small, but personable. Make sure you come ahead of your appointed time, sometimes they can pull you back early. I don't see the nurses much, but the ones I have spoke to are friendly. They have both civilians and active duty providers. Some are concise, while other providers spend a bit more time in the weeds of your situation. Wait times can be long, but the techs and front desk do a good job of letting you know what's going on. They treat both veterans, reservists, and dependents at this location, so it's nice when you dont have to drive through traffic to get to MacDill. I would like to see some speciality clinics like physical therapy or orthopedics here, but given how small the clinic is, I dont see that happening now. I have heard word there is a new clinic coming in April 2019. Hopefully they'll have more room available there.

Horrible service. Captain Smith was one of the best doctor now he is gone. Sprained my ankle and the service I received was horrible. The nurse was horrible. Don’t know who my doctor is. Can’t get through on appointment line. Called three times yesterday and after a 30 minutes to an hour I hung up. Called today to be told no appointment till 7/30 had to come in to talk to advocate to be seen today. The service when I first came here was not as bad as it is now. Really hope things get better. Dr Patel and Captain Smith was the best. People at the front are nice. With my experience from my sprained ankle appointment last week the jury is out if they should get a better rating 😔
