I had attended for 20+ years. A lot of the teaching was great. However, this is not the most welcoming place for middle-aged to senior single women. The church has many cliques and a single woman is eyed warily. I only felt genuinely welcomed there by one couple. I have since moved on to a Unitarian Universalist congregation in Sac, and honestly it's a breath of fresh welcoming air.

I love Fair Oaks Presbyterian Church and I started going there when I was 6 years old. Eugene Nelson was the minister that started that congregation there and had the church built of course over the years it has expanded. Eugene Nelson baptized me there after I got back from Vietnam. He also was the minister at my father's funeral at Mount Vernon Cemetery in Fair Oaks California. It was his voice that came in loud and clear to me when I was in Vietnam and there was much happening that particular day and night. In his sermons he would say if ever you're in need or in trouble all you have to do is call upon the name of Jesus and he will be there. And yes it is true Jesus is there and he was there for me. He is always there interceding for me and for you as well.

I work in conjunction with Animal Outreach, Sacferals, and the Bradshaw Animal Shelter to help TNR (trap, neuter, vaccinate, re-home etc) the feral cat population that has resided on the five acres of church property located next to the five acres plus of park property, for the past ten plus years. These cats have been kept from starvation by sympathetic parishioners, and local residents, despite the ongoing aggressive attempts to starve and dispose of them by the maintenence team overseen by director Hazard and Pastor Hall. They have been informed in person, by phone by mail and by email that to continue to try to dispose of the cats is illegal in Sacramento County and the continued destruction of unobtrusive feeding stations prevents these cats from being trapped which would LESSEN the population. Despite numerous requests to let us set feeding stations to trap and move these animals, they continue to obstruct ,destroy and harass. I ask you: is this what Jesus would do? There are far better churches with far kinder pastors in Sacramento County. Seek them out if you want guidance and teachings closer to the word of our Lord and compassionate teacher Jesus Christ.

What a great church! There are 2, 9:00am services; a traditional one in the sanctuary and another in a Multi-purpose room with a contemporary band (and another 10:40 serivce). There are so many things to do! There is a fantastic new building just for the kids and youth. They have great junior high and high school youth groups. They do some really cool things together. There are lots of families and welcoming, nice, happy people there. You should come check it out & see for yourself!

1985 the main Sanctuary was built where traditional services are held. Also, a contemporary church service is held in the famikt life center.
A total of 4 services on Easter, 2 at 900 and 2 at 1030. Classic service and Modern Casual. All are welcome hope to see you there!
