Working with Chris Candlish from Wilson Painting & Finishing was a delight. We have outdoor furniture that required refinishing and painting with a weather-resistant specialized paint used to paint boats. Chris was very responsive, showed up exactly when he said he would, explained in detail the various options, picked up the furniture, kept us informed about the progress and returned the set looking as new as the day we originally bought it. They did an outstanding job and their rates were extremely reasonable. It was so nice dealing with a company which takes so much pride in their work. We highly recommend Wilson Painting & Finishing.

What are the different sheen’s and where are the areas they go?

Wilson Painting & Finishing | Sep 8, 2018
Wilson Painting & Finishing | Sep 8, 2018

Sheen is the luster or brightness of a paint or stain coating. Most paint coatings are available in the following sheen’s: flat, velvet, eggshell, satin, semi-gloss and gloss, with flat being the dullest or lowest sheen and gloss being the brightest or highest sheen. Wood trim and areas with moisture are usually finished with a sheen such as eggshell, satin or semi-gloss. Other areas of a home such as the walls and ceilings, may be finished in any sheen the homeowner prefers. Some homeowners like the shinier look on walls and ceilings, while other's like the duller look. The higher the sheen the more light that is reflected. The lower sheen’s reduce glare and light reflection. The higher sheen’s are more washable, while the lower sheen’s are less washable and durable. Gloss sheen coatings are normally used on industrial projects but sometimes on a residential project such as metal and when the customer prefers. Not all products have the option to select all types of sheen’s.
