Fire Buff
Too bad money is tight. Historic bldgs. need work. Deputy chief told me tree fell on historic 1937? truck garage in 1998?. I wish dispatchers would name fires with names that hint their points of origin. Ridge Fire of '01 by Poonkinny Ridge could have been named better, like Poonkinny Fire . Valley Fire of '15 by High Valley Creek could have been named better, like High Valley Fire. The list goes on and on.

Incident names are chosen at the discretion of the dispatchers, usually based off information gathered during the call. Sometimes they are named because of their location but it's not a requirement. They are also sometimes renamed later for various reasons.
