Pulled up to pump #1 at 3:15 pm Aug 10, 2022. I was on the phone advocating for a veteran through the VA with a medical doctor. Had some random guy walk up to me and start asking me questions. I told him I am on the phone one second please. No idea who he was or what he was asking or saying. He’s wearing a face mask asking stuff while I am on the phone. It’s the owner of the gas station come to find out. His name is Fred. I stand in line to get gas after I am done talking with a medical doctor who works with the VA. Fred tells me I am not allowed to get gas my pump that I parked at will not work. I asked him why it will not work. He said I was rude to him and he has the right to refuse me gas. He tells his other employee to not let me fill up. I asked Fred how I was rude when I told him I was on the phone to please wait one second so I can figure out what he’s trying to tell me while conducting a phone call with a medical doctor. He said he doesn’t care I am not getting gas to leave his gas station. I apologized if what I said came off as rude but I’m on the phone with a doctor I don’t know who this guy is or what he was saying. To be honest he looked like a homeless guy asking for change before he told me he was the owner inside. He stated my apology is not accepted and told me I am not allowed to fill up there. I’ll remove this review once Fred can accept my apology because I was not rude. Interrupting anybody on the phone regardless of who they are talking to is the only rude thing that happened.

This place has it all. Now inventory is broad enough to qualify for EBT benefits use. A special delight are their new and effecient fuel pumps. They are far and above the pumps at other Gas Station in town. The staff at Mirage Gas and Liquor are excellent in their welcoming and helping customers find whatever they need. Every single one of their employees are exemplary, and faithful to their designation as "essential workers". From morning coffee to my occasional nightcaps, Borrego Springs life is made much sweeter by Mirage Gas &Liquor. Thank you for your great work at a key location for me.

Pay close attention to your bank account after coming here. They charged my debit card twice, two days apart. And was only there the one time. When I questioned them, I couldn’t get a straight answer and was made to feel like it was my fault somehow. They need to make this right. I’m on soc sec and I have to watch every penny. This double charge overdrew my account. If I could give them a zero I would. It was a sad day when the old man sold the place to these folks.

If you come to Borrego Springs make sure you fill up your gas tank. Just a little ways down the road at the Salton Sea the red Earth casino and gas station has gas for under $2. In Borrego be prepared to pay twice as much.
