If your idea of quality senior care is corporate decision-making for maximum profit, Brookdale is for you.  If not, look elsewhere and avoid this or any other facility owned by this conglomerate.  Brookdale is part of a massive corporate-owned network of senior living facilities across the US.  They are too big to really care!  Brookdale Elk Grove is understaffed and overpriced compared to their direct competition (i.e. The Meadows, The Carlton).  We looked at both as alternatives after moving my mother-in-law out out of Brookdale after just 6 months and found their pricing at least $750/month LESS than Brookdale for the exact same care level (with other enhancements Brookdale can't offer), and that is before Brookdale's recently announced, undeserved, and galling $250/month increase starting in January '18.  What do you get at Brookdale for all of this extra money?  You get smaller rooms, fewer onsite amenities, less staff, and fewer activities.  You also get front office staff who can be hard to reach, evasive, and frustrating to deal with. The staff doesn't seem to be very happy either and with low morale, but seem to care about the residents and do the best they can with what they have to work with. The 2 stars go to the staff, not the front office.  BTW Neal (facility director), my mother-in-law's re-diagnosis and recommendation for memory care to assisted living reassignment that you chose to ignore and deny DID come from the HEAD OF NEUROLOGY AND PSYCHIATRY AT KAISER S. Bottom line, corporate senior care, especially by a corporation this big, only benefits the corporation and not the resident.  Go elsewhere if you care about your family member. Maybe the other reviewers here can add some comments to justify their inexplicable 5 star ratings and establish their connection to Brookdale??
