A bit of a mixed bag in terms of quality if stay (hence the 3 stars). The staff were extremely polite and friendly, but had a number of issues with the facilities throughout the stay. The first morning of my stay, the hotel lost water for a few hours and when it came back, there was no access to hot water through to the evening. The staff at the front had politely offered some Marriott points as compensation and i confirmed my account was on file for the stay, but no points ever came in. For the last two days of my stay, the hotel “servers” were down and the only way I was able to access my room was with a security escort up to my room. This resulted in having to wait in a long line every time I wanted to leave and get back into my room. No compensation was offered for this inconvenience. While the staff was polite, they didn’t seem to have the power to manage these inconveniences which were very disruptive to my trip. Overall, there were certainly cheaper options to get the quality of stay that I had.

Mixed bag. First and foremost, the location was perfect for us. We were about halfway between the Gaslamp Quarter and Little Italy where we spent most of our time. The biggest complaint we had was that we booked this hotel because it has a rooftop bar. However, every single night between events and the weather, the rooftop bar was closed. Very disappointing. The room itself was also a mixed bag. The corner room we stayed in has pretty good view of the city. We loved the extra windows which let in a lot of natural light. However the windows were filthy dirty and you could barely see out of them. The bathroom was nice and spacious but the shower was tiny and the water pressure sucked. Regarding the service, it was also a mixed bag. We arrived early and the woman at the front desk said she would put a rush on our room to have it ready early. Around 3:30 we went to the front desk and asked if the room was ready. They told us that it still wasn't ready and that guaranteed check-in was at 4:00. The woman who helped us wasn't very nice about it. Later on we talked to another person at the front desk and they were very friendly. Same situation with the bar. Couple of the bartenders that we talked with were very friendly and very attentive. Then one night the bartender didn't even announce that it was last call and so when we went to get a drink he told us the bar was already closed. So overall, we will probably try another hotel in the same area.

This is a great hotel! The front desk staff is so amazing. They let us check into our room early, gave us suggestions for things to do around town, and asked the next morning about our stay! The rooms are great, the rooftop restaurant is great (I recommend the salmon!), and it's a great location to see the city.

If you are visiting San Diego for a special occasion, do not book your stay here. Disappointing experience with staff that did not acknowledge the special occasion note. Two years ago I had such a great stay with hospitable staff, but this has changed now. Also, I booked on the phone for a specific rate ($200 after taxes) and got charged higher fees ($330 for ONE night), small standard king room with a view of a building in the 6th floor, NOT WORTH IT. At that price point I could’ve booked a high end hotel with views and friendlier staff. I provided feedback to front desk and hope management is aware of this.

valet only for $49/ night. underground parking across the street is $28/day but READ the fine print as it closes on weekends and your car would be inaccessible!
