have a service called ubox. They'll deliver it to your house, where you can hire movers to pack it full. They'll then pick it up and ship it to your new address where again you can hire movers to unpack it.
In general for local, you can get trailers for $15 a day and pickup/small van for $20 plus 69 cents a mile. Bigger trucks and one way are quoted on their website.
If you go to uhaul.com and put in your zip code and a zip code for Bakersfield, the type of truck you need, etc, it'll give you an estimate of what it should cost.
