I had dropped off my laptop for service as Windows was not loading. There was a problem with one of the disks. Brian kept my laptop for 3 days and came back with the diagnosis that my hard drive was completely gone. I trusted that was the issue and requested a quote for possibly backing up my data. He quoted me with $300 and said he could "maybe" retrieve my data. I went to another IT specialist who would try to work on retrieving my data as I felt the cost of $300 was high. He was able to run diagnostics and get Windows up and running. None of his diagnostics came back with the hard drive having problems or not working; just some disk errors which were fixed. Brian charged me $65 to tell me that my hard drive was shot and to misdiagnose the problem with my laptop. Had I stopped there, I would have paid $300 to get him to "try" and back up my data as well as bought a new laptop. I called back to discuss the charge and try to understand how another IT professional was able to get my laptop running and tell me that though my hard drive was old, there was no actual problem with it. Brian completely talked down and over me and wouldn't adjust any of the charge. So I paid $65 to get a misdiagnosis on my laptop. Thankfully, I had gone somewhere else and didn't spend way more money on something I didn't need to. Had he provided better customer service in adjusting the charge as opposed to telling me "well I don't know what diagnostics he ran..." The point is, he told me that my hard drive was completely gone and that I either needed to buy a new one, pay $300 to back up data or get a new laptop, when in the end, someone else got me up and running.

I needed to have a gaming computer built. After checking out all the online companies, i went to check out Northboro Computers. And after talking to Brian for ten minutes i knew i wanted him to build it. He actually had it done before i was ready for it. I will tell you it is a beast. I could not be happier. The bench marks are incredible on this thing. I got a fantastic machine, better and a lot cheaper than any of those sites. I will never go any place but to see Brian from now on.

Northboro Computers is the real deal. The owner, Brian, has accumulated the knowledge about software and hardware that can only come from being involved with computers for decades, and indeed it turns out he’s worked with computers for 35 years and all around the globe. On top of that, he understands that to really help a customer, he has to go beyond repair and actually educate the customer about how to avoid problems and how to fix some things ourselves. He’s friendly, a straight-shooter, and you can tell he enjoys helping people. While there, say hi to his adorable small dog, Zip.

Questions & Answers

Can you do a small soldering job consisting of 2 small circuit boards ? My reason for asking is that I have a small job and i just can't do the soldering any more.

This is not something we perform as a service.

I have a five year-old HP multi function printer. Everything i come out with a vertical black line. It is a heavy thing to pick up and bring to you. Before i do that I need to know if this is fixable by you?

In most cases Ann, lines like that are from a defective ink / toner cartridge. Printer repairs on inkjets tend to cost more than a new all in one inkjet. A new All in one inkjet costs from 99 - 180 Printer repairs tend to be the same or higher.

Hi, do you guys buy parts? I have a Radeon RX560 2GB graphics card from my computer that I am planning to upgrade from, can't find many places to sell it.
