We moved from East Hill Rd 52 years ago after living there 10 years. At my younger and older daughters' insistence we visited Westview for the first time last year, and thoroughly enjoyed the soothing atmosphere, the view, the well maintained acreage , the animals and of course the most delicious ice cream, and a welcome offering for my vegan son in law. Some.of us returned this past week with my older son who gave the same enthusiastic approval. As he was 11 when we moved, it was a return to an area he loved. We have to get our other son and family and the rest of the grandchildren, all.adults, to visit. Years ago while working in Northampton and Greenfield I met people who were familiar with Westview. Keep on!

My first visit was with our dog needing spaying. I wish doctors offices for people were as efficient. I was sent several videos to watch so that I knew exactly to expect. It answered all of my questions and concerns before I got there. The staff was so upbeat and great around the animals. They must truly love their jobs. Things worked exactly as scheduled and on time. What a pleasant experience. I would highly recommend them.

We had both of our rabbits spayed here and it was a wonderful experience. Everyone involved was thoughtful and sincere in their caring for our family. They were great to ask questions to and I didn't feel rushed. Very happy we chose Dakin.
Thanks! Your review is awaiting moderation.
They ask for $100 donation or whatever you can afford.
Have to call price differs if ur getting public assistance
Pretty sure around $75.
Yes it's cheaper go to dakin on Sat at 8am the first 40 people will get back shots at a cheaper rate they normally are 35 each shot if you go on Sat wit proof of your sis or your snap you will pay 15 instead it's a no brainer they are a great place better then Boston road or any other animal place in western mass I hope this helps you. The better is 100 instead of 170 it's so worth it
Yes, Gloria, we will take them. Sorry to hear that you are faced with that situation, but it's kind of you to think about what's best for them. Call us first at 413.781.4000 please, and we can schedule a time that works for you.
Call their spay and neuter clinic they have certain days they do it and will put you in the next avail, along with several others. Everyone shows up at the same time in the morning so there is a little wait as each checks in and fills out paper work.so make sure pet is secured. Everyone comes back that afternoon around same time for pick up
Hi Karina. If you are looking to rehome Luna there are tools and resources we can provide should you wish to rehome Luna yourself. If you prefer to bring her into the shelter, please visit this webpage and click the "Cat" button on the bottom of the page to begin the process and complete our form.
I believe that they still do
Absolutely
I just went on the website and saw the volunteer information. We applied and are hoping to hear from you soon!
You can take it in. Fill out some paperwork. Give a donation if you can.
They had a few there not to long ago. So I would assume that they do.
Yes there is
Hello SBP - Yes, we would be able to help your kittens. Please call us at 413.781.4000. If you get voicemail, you will get a call back shortly. Just leave your name and phone number. Very sorry to hear about your sad loss. We can help you.
I'm not sure but you could call them on Monday during business hours. I hope you can find one or more that you would like to adopt there 🙂😺🍀
I'd like the public to know their are many great ORGANIZATIONS out there besides Dankin. I've went and used Connecticut Humane Society Franklin County Sheriff Offices I've learned has rescue dogs for those who are looking to ADOPT and save a life here is a good place to start.
What is the process to euthanized my 15 year old dog who cannot hear or see and hard to walk . She is miserable . I want her to die peacefully
I am sorry to hear that. you would want to bring him to the animal hospital. From there they take X-ray s and tell you what to do. I think they still have a payment plan or something
Pretty sure just bring them in and theyll give you some paperwork to fill out about the dog so they can be adopted into the right home they might ask for a donation as well
Above answers are correct.
christine: the shots are low cost. I'm not sure about dakin's spay/neuter program: if they have one or not. your regular vet might know of some low cost spay/neuter programs so I suggest caLLing your regular vet to ask about this.
why not keep it? if you can't, I guess you should bring it in
U would have to ho there they charge to locate records
Yes we do! You can find all the information you need to sign up by visiting: https://www.dakinhumane.org/foster-a-dakin-animal.html and follow the 3 steps to get started.
All available dogs are listed on our website. The website is updated in real time; however, dogs tend to get adopted quickly. The best advice we can give is to check back often.
Sometimes the product gets to be out of stock and will be automatically removed from the list by Amazon. We revise the list regularly based on products in need and what is available on Amazon. Thank you for your support and willingness to help.
Appointments are scheduled online on their website.
I don't think so. If you already filled out the information for your younger dog then it won't match the information for the older one. It would be better to call Dakin and ask their staff for a direct answer. Hope it works out for you!
You need to call their phone number at the dakin humane society, or if possible, drive up there and ask them through the door
Thank you for reaching out and your concern for the wellbeing of this dog. We do not have an animal control team nor authorized to take in stray dogs directly from the streets. If the dog is in Springfield the best thing to do is call Thomas J. O'Connor Animal Shelter since they are allowed to help strays and have Animal Control. We work closely with them should they need additional assistance.
You need to call them, they don't have an open door policy since COVID it's all by appointments only, they are very quick with phone calls and emails
If you are looking to raise funds you can use platforms such as gofundme or other similar peer to peer platforms. In the meantime and depending on the practice you could look into whether or not they offer payment plan options as well as these resources (under paying for your pet's medical costs): https://www.dakinhumane.org/local-hospitals-financing-options.html
Visit https://www.dakinhumane.org/surgery-for-dogs.html please
Dennis is correct volunteers only at this time.
I believe $125. Website can tell you
www.dakinhumane.org
You should receive an email from Dakin, it will have the paperwork to fill out, you will sign electronically. It will alsonhave drop off instructions and aftercare
They are very prompt with email replies to questions.
At this time, we do not offer senior citizen discounts because our adoption fees range based on the animals needs, length of stay etc and also because adoption fees currently are only a portion of the total cost we incur to care for the animal.
JD was adopted
Each dog's price is listed on their individual profile. All profiles can be found here: https://www.dakinhumane.org/adopt-dogs.html
All available animals are posted on our website under "Adoptable Animals." Applications can be submitted online when you see a kitten you are interested in.
Thank you for your questions. Summer tends to be the busiest season for kittens and as we approach winter there are typically less coming into shelters. Any available kittens would be found on our website under "Adoptable Animals." We hope that helps.
So, they will put her to sleep and they charge $100. If you can't afford it, pay as much as you can. You can Bring your cat home to bury her. Or if you want her cremated, there's no negotiation, it's 300$ cash or card. They will put her to sleep and send her to be cremated. She will come back in a nice urn with cremation papers. I just had to put my dog to sleep and I went that route. They were very compassionate and answered all my questions. I was a mess. Sorry for your kitty 🙏❤️
You would need to call them.
Anytime! They may have limited space tho cause of texas flooding......i would call them and ask
Go on the website and see what they have for pets....they go quickly tho so keep checking!
Absolutely, all dogs, cats and rabbits will be spayed or neutered before adoption.
There is a place in Springfield called Second Chance Animal Hospital and they go by your income. Now that used to be out by the ax and they were just so nice and helpful since they've moved where dr. Seuss live I have been disgusted and stopped bringing my dog there. I had a hard decision to make about putting her down I was late by 10 minutes and they canceled the appointment do you know what I went through the night before and you cancel my appointment with no regrets and I asked him how much for a cremation and I hope everybody reads this. If you do an individual cremation it's more expensive than doing a group cremation. I weary of a group cremation cuz are you sure you're getting your dog and I talked to somebody another vet and they said don't ever do a group cremation because you won't get your dog back. Now for those that are going to read this if you ever have to go through what I did and lose your best friend there is a doctor call dr. Atkins she does in-home euthanasia🌟🌟
That's a question you should call the shelter with.
Yes
I would just call them that's what I did when I had to have my cat put to sleep. I called them and they worked with me and they were really nice
Email them
Thank you so much for thinking of Dakin. Yes, we can use a carrier and would be happy to accept that donation.
We do not currently have any puppies available. Our website it updated in real time for available animals, so the adoption page is a great place to check.
Thanks for asking. Dakin does not offer dog training classes. Thank you
I'm not sure, but I believe it all depends in which vaccine he needs. Cost may vary.
There are currently no kittens in the adoption center. The adoption page of Dakin's website www.dakinhumane.org will always be up to date with the animals that are currently available for adoption. Thanks
By appointment only I believe
I'd like to know about these sliding scale payments too. I can afford to take care of a doggie but I don't have $500-800 in one lump sum. I'm on state as well. How do I find anything out?
I'm not sure during covid
That I don't know. We adopted a rabbit..
Call dsikin they will help you i recently adopted a dog very nice people to deal with
Yes, thanks for checking
We are open by appointment only Tuesday - Saturday. Thank you
Hello, Please use this link to see pricing for eth Spay Neuter Clinic https://www.dakinhumane.org/surgery-for-dogs.html Thank you
yes
Yes, a neuter is the procedure for males. Here is information about The Community Spay Neuter Clinic https://www.dakinhumane.org/about-spay-neuter-surgery-and-our-clinic.html
Please go to Dakins web site or FB page for hours. Note you need to schedule appt thru the web and only certain routine vet services provided
It's on their website
Currently, we do not offer dental care for publicly owned animals. The only dental surgeries or care we perform are for shelter animals.
Good morning Karen! No the store is not currently open yet. The services that they are offering are curbside only at this time.
Please check out our website www.dakinhumane.org to see up to date information on dogs and other animals currently available for adoption. You can also find information on adoption fees on the website. Thanks
We are not currently seeking new foster homes as we have more than needed for the animals in our care. When we are recruiting for new foster homes that information will be on our website on this page: https://www.dakinhumane.org/foster-a-dakin-animal.html Thank you
How much for the cheaper dog?
Can I ask how long the wait list is??? My children have a cat that they love more than anything and if it's not speed soon the apartments going to make us get rid of it
We have not opened the vaccination clinics up just yet. We hope to soon but do not have a date scheduled as of yet.
We do not currently have any ferrets, we get them from time to time but not very often. The website will always have up to date information on the animals available for adoption.
You can get you puppy shots at their Saturday clinic but only 40 people get in. If you get a puppy from them they already come with shots, vet check, neutering and microchip.
River Bend Veterinary in Hadley will. They did it for a friend this winter and were very kind and understanding.
No charge
OMG, RIP
Good
Its risky if you travel by bus. Have considered Petco Clinics? Check their website for details. Kudos for rescuing! Our first rescue came through Dakin 11 years ago!
Some do, but I dont believe Dakin does that.
I'm sorry I don't know Spanish
Nothing if you bury it in the yard. Not sure dakin takes dead animals
You'll have to either check the main page of the site or call the shelter. Please remember that the price includes veterinary care, spaying and a health guarantee...much more reasonable than having your vet do it all.
I recommend calling them, because I don't know what "shot" you're referring to. They'll be able to better assist you than reviewers can.
im not sure about shots but to get a dog fixed it depends on their age, weight, and sex. You also have to schedule in advance to get them fixed. They do a really good job with the sugery but are usually booked out at least a month. You can check out their information on their website under the spay and neuter clinic.
Please call the shelter for information about surrendering an animal.
Your vet would be the best (and only) place you'd be able to get a Seresto collar with your Care Credit. They almost always have mail in rebates, so you get some money back. Just be sure to save the package (there's a serial number on it) and receipt, as both are needed for the rebate. If it doesn't work or you have any problems with it, the company will give you a full refund, but only when you buy it through a vet or other place they like.
They have dogs for adoption, yes. They also have cats and small animals. You can check out their website or their Petango page for an idea of what they have currently, or stop in during business hours if you live close enough. 💜
They usually have at least a couple of rabbits.
No problem. I'm not one for calling the Police but in this situation you don't know how someone might react when confronted. You don't want their anger turned on you for trying to help their dog. Good luck & stay safe hun.
It depends on what animals people have brought to the shelter, but usually they do. Check their website for updated info on what animals they have available for adoption! :)
They sell a collar for that on Amazon. They chip them so they can be scanned if they end up in a shelter.
It varies, depending on age, race, condition. etc
First I am so sorry for your loss. You can always go to your local vet if you wanted your fur baby creammated. Or you can beary your fur baby in your yard.
They do have clinics for vaccinations and spaying/neutering. Call them about your dog. They at least can provide some guidance to affordable care. Good luck.
Yeah, you'll definitely have to do the leg work when adopting a pet, driving to shelters, having patience. And, if that's too much of a hassle, you're better without one. Remember that you're about to get a precious living been, not a stapler from Amazon.
Karen the best I can say is their a great place but for what your asking I believe that you should start with a phone call to them hope this helps. Good Luck
They do have a process for pretty surrender. I'd call to see which animals they take and/or have room to take. There is also a suggested donation for surrender, which they can tell you.
I think they just do spay and neuter.
I'm going to say around $50.00
Yes
You should surrender all animals to TJO. Dakin is over run ...
Dakin will take it in too
No. They have a service i believe. But i think you need a full service vet. Dakin isn't a vet.
Look on their website under the adoption tab. You will see all the pets available for adoption. https://www.dakinhumane.org/adopt-a-pet.html#!/
You have to start volunteering, and when there's a job opening you can apply, there's also a process to apply for volunteer positions.
Yes,they go by your income and pitbulls are a little bit more money
Idk....sorry
They don't take them back like that. You have to surrender to TJO. I think there is a fee. Can't you find someone to adopt so she isn't traumatized?
Ask your vet
When I took my cat to the Boston Rd animal hospital (it can get expensive), I noticed a couple of people who couldn't afford the care. The staff there contacted Dakin and arranged for a check-up and care at a reduced rate. You could try that or just call Dakin tomorrow morning and ask for advice.
Cost me $100 for a 25 lb. Male puppy at 10 mos.
They don't.
No need to pay. They are for charity. They will shelter the dog. The only person who pays is the person who adopts the dog.
Yes they do all that they can get thank you so very much
Hi Dawn. Sorry to hear about your dog dealing with dermatitis. While our staff doesn't treat or diagnose dogs that aren't in our care, if you'd like some suggestions for other veterinarians in the region (if you want to change your vet), you are welcome to call 413.781.4000 and ask for a call back. Good luck, and hope your pup feels better.
Yes,they keep track of all records.
Check their website
Ya they can take them all u do is fill out a few quick questions and ur all set
Hi Dawn. MaryAnne's answer is correct...our adoption fees for adult cats (6 months or older) is $99-$199, and the fee for a kitten is $350. Greg's info is also correct (and appreciated) where he pointed out that adopting from us saves you in the long run because all cats (and dogs too) go home already spayed or neutered, microchipped, vaccinated (all age-appropriate vaccinations), a voucher for a free exam at a participating veterinarian's office, free 30-day pet insurance and lifelong support from our behavior experts. All those extras are included in the adoption fee. If you want to see what pets are available at any time, visit https://www.dakinhumane.org/adopt-a-pet.html#!/ This page constantly updates to show our animals. Hope we can help you.
THEY HAVE,Dakin open at 12:30.only close Mondays.
Bring it there they should be able to help u out
Sorry does not speak Spanish
Sierra, I'm sorry, but Dakin does not conduct wellness examinations on owned pets. It would be best if you brought your pet to a veterinarian to be sure his respiratory issues are not problematic. If you don't have a vet and would like some information about how to find one, feel free to call our adoption center at 413.781.4000 and they can make some recommendations for you. Thank you for adopting your kitty at Dakin!
Depends if they have one at all and varies. Look online or walk in... Also do research.
ALL ANIMALS UP FOR ADOPTION ARE FIXED. ALSO, THE PRICES FOR ADOPTIONS VARY.
Pretty sure they help any animal give them a call.
Yes, we are an open admission shelter, so we accept dogs. Please take a moment to learn about the process by reading this info from our website, thank you: https://www.dakinhumane.org/bringing-an-animal-to-dakin.html
You would have to call
No
Im sorry no,but if its another dakin yes it will work.
1230-5pm
Yes they offer vet services
You have to fill out application for the dog your interested in.
Hi Calysa! The minimum age to volunteer at Dakin is 16. We need to have people who can get here reliably, and are willing to make an ongoing commitment of time. Please take a look at this info about getting started as a volunteer from our website (https://www.dakinhumane.org/volunteer-getting-started.html) and thank you very much for thinking of Dakin. We hope you'll become a volunteer!
Dakin did a beautiful job on my 10 yr old female who was spayed very recently.
They have a spay/neuter clinic I believe it is weekly. Pricing should be on the website.
https://www.dakinhumane.org/about-spay-neuter-surgery-and-our-clinic.html
$375 for dogs. It is more for puppies and dixie dogs i believe. You can find info on their website
You can go to your vet's office to have your puppy dewormed but dakin can possibly do it as well, just call and make an appointment.
He means is it discounted. They offer it at a discount rate to begin with. Call and explain your situation and ask if they are offering any special programs.
I dont believe they offer vet services to the public.
Yes! There are presently 2 baby bunnies that are 5 months old as well as a few older rabbits. I am not sure of the prices. Dakin is open 12:30-5:30 tomorrow. If you call, I'm sure they will be able to help you!
It depends on the dog. You should call though or check their website because they don't always have puppies.
Adopting a kitten under 6 months old is $350, which includes spay/neuter, all vaccines and a free vet exam voucher!
They already offer discounted vaccinations, so probably not, but you can call to find out.
If you look on the website, there is an outline of the basic cost per vaccination at the Saturday clinic. The line starts forming as early as 8AM and the first 40 animals are serviced. The clinic prices are geared for low-income pet owners.
Dakin doesn't do emergency vet services. Contact the emergency animal hospital on Boston rd. In Springfield or the one in south Deerfield.
They don't answer the phones offen due to staffing best to go to website and set something up
It's like 12 or 15 bucks plus an exam fee, which is 10 if your dog is spayed/neutered or 25 if it's not.
It is based on income. They dont man the phones best to use the site for dakin
At least 150$
You need to set up a appointment and pre pay
Bring it to Dakin Humane
They do hold free spay and neuter clinics a few times a year, usually for residents of Springfield, chicopee holyoke. But compared to vet offices they are very low cost. You have to call and make an appointment, and they will be able to give you more info on cost and services. I know they also can provide a number to a clinic in Springfield that does services based on a sliding scale of your income.
It does depend however, in thr past Dakin has receive grant monies that allowed them to offer inexpensive nutering. It is best to call and ask what they are offering. They are really nice compassionate people!
Animals go in and out. they might you just have to call and asked to be notified
I believe that it is $50 for spaying. I wl not sure about vouchers. Give them back a call. They will work with you to get it done.
You would have to call the shelter and talk to staff. Try checking the website but animals tend to get adopted relatively quickly from there.
It would be better to talk to the shelter to know about the cost and the procedure.
always a different variety of animals,as when the animals up for adoption are adopted, they move others up front.I also am quite sure they have postings of adoptable animals on the dakin website,Please consider the local pounds in your area, the adoption fee is Far less, and most give out fee waivers for neuter and spay costs...
I don't know for sure but they may welcome donations? or maybe can find some other agency that could use it.
I don't know, maybe 45 $Call them.
I know they do have bunnies from time to time. Probably best to just call for current prices.
I just looked ob their website: the next vaccine cLinic Listed is sat feb 10 2018 starting at 9 am. it's weekly now on saturdays. it's a good idea to get there early and get in line. good luck. btw it's changed (not chanced). it used to be during the week but now on saturdays.
You could always get a dog and not worry about it
Have to call
I would definitely leave on they will probably bite at the incision and make it a lot worse
I found an abandoned dog, brought it to dakin and they told me that they don't take animals like that. Thomas O'connor is a place that will take abandoned/stray dogs.
If you qualify for assistance it's $40 to have them fixed I'm not sure on shots and flea stuff but once again if you qualify for assistance I know it's discounted but you have to call to make an appointment and fill out how much you make and show proof
If you qualify for hardship I believe it's only $40 if not the prices vary and yes it should calm down a hyper dog
50$ with discount
The prices vary on dog adoptions. If that is your question. Please stop by your local Dakin Humane Society for a meet and greet with a future potential new pet. The staff is very helpful in answering any of your questions.
There's Dakin Animal Hospital you can adopt them at there's also another place you can adopt them on Cottage Street Springfield MA Thomas J O'Connor Animal Clinic I would check them both. They're both great clinics and see what works with children both have a fee but it's a great place to adopt an animal they will have all their shots and you'll get a great pet, i have adopted many from them and they both do amazing work.
Yes they can i think you can go on sat 9 to 12 for check ups call to make sure they still do this i no they did a year ago
They are often understaffed. Keep trying or if you can stop in.
Dakin Humane Society Spay/Neuter Clinic Services and Fees for Pet Cat are as follows... The Basic $85* Spay or Neuter Package for Cats Includes: •Office fee and pre-surgery veterinary examination •Pain medication •No additional charge if your cat is in heat, pregnant, or nursing cats •Rabies vaccination (if over 12 weeks old) •FVRCP ("3-in-1" distemper) vaccination (if not current)*If you receive state or federal assistance, the basic package is $50, a $35 discount. (Please note that state medical insurance alone does not qualify you for the subsidized package pricing). Appointment required for all owned cat surgeries. Full payment of surgery is required at the time of scheduling.
The price does vary to put your dog to sleep. I recommend you call or stop by there location closed to you. They will be more than happy to inform you about this and any other questions you may have.
They have diverse dog breeds and sizes randomly. Your best bet would be to stop by and check for yourself. They do post most pets available for adoption but often times it does not update regularly.
How much does it cost to surrender a 2 1/2 yr old cat?
I brought my cat there around 2010 bc she was deteriorating mentally and lashed out at me (scratched my face in defensive manner)after 8 years of having her content and happy. They euthanized her for us and treated us in a kind and compassionate manner which was very helpful under the sad circumstances
The regular price is $ 175 up to 49 pounds. If the person receives state or federal assistance, the price is $ 100
You would have to call to check their price and availability
U would have to call for that
The have programs where the facility will do it for free or next to nothing
Check the adoption page of their website. The animals they have their change all the time. It's a great place to adopt a pet!
I believe they do that. they have a great staff and there was a lot of people when I was in there that were walking around.very nice place and plenty of parking. I personally found a skunk in my yard that I believe his back was broken. After a few hours he was still there so I picked him up brought him down there and paid $20 donation and they put him to sleep. they even named him for me. everyone really seem to care there.
Thera are several places that still do it but it is pricey. One place is Kensington Animal Hospital in ct
Dankin will take them
Yes dogs & cats for adoption
