Cooked in a skillet, these eggs come out of the shell inconsistent; some dark yellow, some pale. So not necessarily from happy chickens as they claim. These eggs also left that kind of ikky feeling in my stomach as average commercial eggs do. I decided to boil them as advised by a food blogger I read from, a technique for making eggs more tummy friendly for those of us who find that most eggs don't digest very well these days. The peeling of Nellie's eggs was extremely easy for five out of six eggs. Facts I've known since my Mama raised chickens and had backyard eggs as a child, that the egg is actually not that fresh if the shell comes off really easy. In order to have easily peeled boiled eggs without using vinegar or other tricks, cooking a grade B egg is the best for peeling. These fall under that category even though they were sold with a date 2 weeks away. The taste was actually much better than standard store bought eggs but these eggs never would have made it to their expired date without going rotten days before. They were also medium sized eggs for the price. I'll skip this brand next time.

My husband and I love these eggs. We were hooked after the first try. We only buy Nellie's or one other brand . The yolks are always a bright yellow color and unlike many other brands , these eggs don't have an odd smell after they are cooked. To the person that complained about the cracked eggs...I have never had a cracked egg but if I had, I don't think I would consider that to be a product flaw but instead, a handling issue and that would not affect how I feel about the product. Besides, eggs should be inspected before being purchased.

I recently purchased my first dozen of Nellie's Eggs, when I saw them on sale at my local Stop & Shop. The eggs were of high quality and I noticed a significant difference in the way they looked, cooked and tasted. My big disappointment was in the packaging. My family and I are very sensitive to our impact on the environment. The amount of plastic that is used to package these eggs is not only ridiculous but irresponsible. I would be happy to continue buying these in the future if they change their packaging to a recycled paper product but until then, I'll stick with other brands that do use paper.

Hi Betty! Thanks for reaching out. Free range eggs tend to have darker, sometimes even orange yolks, and that is indeed what we and other consumers tend to see in our eggs. Feel free to reach out to us by email if we can answer any additional questions for you!
Hi! Our egg cartons are made from 100% post-consumer recycled plastic and can be recycled again. If you don't mind sending us a message, we would be more than happy to replace any eggs that have broken or cracked.
Hi Tammy, thanks for reaching out. We do not currently sell laying hens at our farms. Thank you for the question!
