Amaral’s is one of the best seafood places around - period. The white chowder is not too thin or thick and the taste is exactly fresh. The fish and chips is a local favorite. The have a large and small fish and chips. I had a scallop roll for $11. Family owned and they’ve been around for 40 years. 10 stars best chowder.

OK. I hate to be *that* guy but I really didn’t get the hype - the food just isn’t good. My wife and I went here because we wanted to avoid getting ripped off in Newport. The customer service is by far the High Point. The staff was welcoming and cheery. The service was lightning fast. To be fair to the food, it was clearly very fresh. We tried the clam cakes, the clam chowder, and the fish and chips. The red clam chowder was delicious, the white clam chowder was so so, nothing to write home to grandmother about. The fish was just bland. There’s nothing more to say about it. I wish they discovered seasoning or spice. Something, anything to give it flavor. I get that it is fresh, but you have to do more justice to the animal then just dipping it into a basic batter. I’m not sure I’m ever going back, but I’m giving them four stars because they seem like outstanding people and I don’t want to mess with their algorithm.

The Super Platter was incredibly delicious. The simple light batter on the scallops had a great no-greasy appearance and the chowder in whole belly clams were amazing. I have been going there since I was a child. Never a bad meal. Highly recommended!!

We used to love this place but haven't been in several months and went today but it's much different than it used to be. The batter they use for the fish is completely different and doesn't have the flavor it used to. Also I normally get the chicken fingers and they used to be a real chicken breast with a good batter but now they serve processed chicken fingers out of a frozen bag. It's a shame I know the cost of stuff has gone up and it's hard to get some stuff but this is a let down.
