I will first say that being raised in the Caribbean, I don't bathe in lakes or beaches here. At least I haven't found one yet. Now with that being said, this park offers a quiet and safe environment. I didn't bathed, but I did go on a Kayak ride. Aside from that, I spent the day relaxing under the tree shades. Great family day.

As a family, we have been going here for years. What we like is the fact that they close the entrance once it fills up to capacity so it's never majorly crowded. I think it's gone downhill tho. Went on July 4th and we were there really early and the bathrooms were disgusting. The smell could be reached past the bathroom building. They do not monitor people like they use to. I saw lots of drinking, louder than usual music, and smoking. They no longer give trash bags either. We always bring extras but those who do not leave the trash on the grown. The trash that was there was full to capacity with paper signs. I think its time to find another lake for us.

On this trip it was very wet from all the rain we had yesterday and the trail ended up going on was basically a stream! So much beautiful scenery and history. There's camping hiking a beautiful lake that you can kayak in. And there's not always a fee to get in depending on the season

Awesome day and nice fall colors what else can you ask for. Pleanty of hiking trails available.

It's $5 a car for New Jersey residents and $10 for everyone else. There is also an unofficial entrance to the park from the west side, (look closely at the map), but it's gated off and you have to walk 10 minutes from the gate to get to the beach/playground/grills/etc. Discovered it the last time we went thanks to Google maps routing us that way. Ha...
It's free for all after Labor Day!
Yes you can there are camping grounds up there.
Park at the Appalachian trail parking lot by the office
Yes, the park opens and fills up very early
yes. but there is an admission charge to the park
Small but there's a waterfall at wingdam. There's a nice flat water scene at twin bridges also
No they don't anymore and for the second questions the answer is not much it's pretty much the same
Week days are best.
I remember hearing somewhere around the 1500 range I know the peaks in the kittitiny mountains are higher then wawayanda mountains. Also the air and water quality are better in the kittitiny mountains and there are more views.
Beaches close after Labor Day. You can still picnic, grill, suntan, hike...but no swimming. The park police will not allow you to swim because there aren't any lifeguards on duty
Its safe to swim..
Yes but not open right now
Yes it does. Your better of on the weekdays
I suggest calling them. Things change seasonally here. Confirm by asking.
Yes you can horseback ride there follow the road around to the boat launch. Just prior to the boat launch there is a turn off a trailer parking across from the beach
Labor day is the last official day for swimming. The park is open throughout the year however.
I think it safe the last time I want the water were open. but the water of shepherd lake was close. I don't no why it was close to the people. But wawayan lake are open to everyone.
Yeah, just be respectful with the volume. And keep the music family friendly.
Dogs are allowed. Dog swinging is not.
Don't know. Since its a state park, I'm sure it's reasonable. Maybe on their web site. Since I LIVED down the street, never used the web site. State parks are rather uniform in rules and prices.
All activities are allowed as long as it doesn't disrupt wildlife. No motor atv....or dirt bikes. The worse are people going to the beach and lake and not taking their garbage back with them. The biggest offenders are a large group from Joel n.y. outside of Warwick. When a black bear, comes and one of the kids gets hurt.....it will be their own fault.
Stairway to Heaven can be reached off of Route 94 outside Vernon NJ toward Warwick NY. You can begin the hike right across the road From Heaven Hill Farm Garden Center. If coming from Warwick the farm center will be on your right.
No. However you should call. Depending on the reason they may allow via permit.

Yes. Single launch ramp. Electric motors only. Must be off lake and out of park by sunset. No fee after labor day to enter. Must go to entrance on Warwick tpke. Update: back gate into park from Barry Lakes is open weekends 10 to 6:30 thru last weekend in October
When the lifeguards go back to school, usually their first year of college. During the summer, here's the drill: Lifeguards kick everyone out of the water at 6:00 PM and leave after which many people immediately resume swimming until 8:00 PM when a ranger appears and firmly ejects everyone and doesn 't leave until the parking lot is empty.
Yes it is open from 8 to 8 and 10 to 6 for swimming
About the imperial restaurant. You should not comment.
Monday to Thursday is when their least busy
You may not be able to drive in because the gate may be closed and locked or you may be discouraged by the park police from entering outside opening hours.
No it's $15 for New York residents $10 for Jersey residents and it's good to go early because I had a certain time around 10:00 there's a cut-off for vehicles entering the park
I am here. Call them. Not sure if its closed. Perfect day
It was my first time that I went and I find myself, there is a lot of shade, benches to put the food, there are meat grills, games for children, the only problem is that you have to go very early because if the parking lot gets full they won't let you in, I was there at 7 and 5 in the morning and there were already enough people
$30 & Up for 1hr.. Prices vary depending on the size of the boat.
I think they are all gone around here but PA has lots of them..
Go get permit
Yes the gates are open on Sunday and I was the other gentleman said there is no charge during the fall or winter
