After reading some terrible reviews I was a bit leery, but this was a great experience. Car was ready and clean. Staff was helpful all around. Right at the Amtrak and Boston back bay garage...super close! Office is not signed well from train arrivals so go to the first floor and it is street side.

had a great overall experience, especially when returning my car. car was clean and the car I expected at pickup. car got towed (my fault) and I was late returning my car - clerk was extremely empathetic and understanding of my situation, will definitely be returning if I need to rent another car, thank you so much :)

0 stars i(nitially) Just picked up a car for 4 days. Car has NY plates and smells like "aj" (last person to connect to the sound system) smoked his/her way all the way from NY to Boston. REEEKS! The air freshener just makes it smell worse. The car is VERY VERY dirty. Never again Avis! UPDATE we went back to the office after trying a couple of other locations closer to where we were staying and the agent was very nice, immediately switched our car and gave us a credit ($25) for the inconvenience. Avis...you did good! I take back my never again but I will always make sure the car is good before driving away.

Terrible experience renting from Avis Back Bay in Boston. We were going on a road trip so had deliberately chosen a car hire with GPS arrived at the rental garage to be told they didn’t have it. Had to practically prise the info from the surly staff member who told us in no uncertain terms that they NEVER had GPS on any of their cars and I shouldn’t have been charged but she couldn’t refund it I would have to go to customer services. Furthermore I had been wrongly overcharged for extra driver which doesn’t apply to a spouse. When we complained about the fact it’s on the website we were met with shrugs Now trying to get money back from customer services - no reply to email yet 5 days later

Yes you can. There's a drop box, just make sure to fill out the rental form with your mileage n gas n leave the key ur form n the garage ticket in the Red drop box..
Pretty far. Might want to take an uber
You can take the public transportation, but if your not used to the Boston system it can be complicated. You would have to take the blue line from the airport then change to the orange line, get of at Back Bay station. The location is right next door to the station. Or take a Taxi or Uber to avoid all that.
