I rented from Alamo at the Tampa airport last week. I loved being able to get my rental docs all setup beforehand so that all I had to do was go to the lot, pick out my car, and basically drive away with a quick stop at the security booth to confirm my credit card. My car was brand new and very nice. The return process was super easy and I was charged exactly what I was told. Definitely a 5 star experience!

I had never before rented a vehicle when going on a trip. My travel agent had set up the reservation for me. I was not sure what to expect, but I was pleasantly surprised on how easy it was. An airport train dropped as off at the car rental area. There was an entire row of different car rental companies. We were lucky enough to have no wait what so ever. I had to present a driver's license and a credit card. We were given some paper work and directed to proceed to the ground level. Upon reaching the ground level there was a huge parking garage filled with cars. A person was waiting to check our paperwork. We were then instructed to proceed into the the garage and select any vehicle that had the rear hatch or trunk open. We were told that the keys would be on the dash or between the seats. The vehicle we chose appeared to be very new and was super clean. We briefly familiarized ourselves with the operations of the vehicle and then followed the signs out of the garage. A person in a booth checked our paperwork and linked us to the vehicle that we chose and we were on our way. At the end of our trip we stopped at a gas station to fill up the vehicle, as we were told that this would save us some money. The alternative was that we would be charged a fee that was around $25 higher than the cost of filling up the vehicle. We drove back to the car rental area at the airport and pulled into a parking garage area. There was clear signage to instruct us where to go. A person greeted us immediately and and scanned something on the car dash and briefly scanned the perimeter of the vehicle to check for damage and we were told that we were good to go. We collected our bags out of the vehicle and proceeded to the terminal. I was very impressed at how easy and perfected this process was. I will not hesitate to use Alamo Rent A Car in the future.

We originally hired a Nissan Titan SV from Alamo in Miami International Airport, and unfortunately a ‘check engine’ light illuminated onto the dashboard. Gave the Alamo roadside assistance team a call and they were so much help, offering me to continue driving as there was no issues, and/or a swap out to a different car. I took the car to the closest Alamo centre, which was at (TPA) Tampa International Airport. We were greeted with ERIC, remember the name ERIC. He was so courteous whilst being incredibly busy with other enquiries, and tailored everything with the customer in mind, as for an unforeseen circumstance, I mentioned that as there wasn’t a similar option available in terms of car, I was allowed to select a different vehicle of a higher class, the 330i. I was expecting to have to pay the difference, but ERIC told us it was on him, honestly a major credit to Alamo, along with the rest of his team that were checking on us whilst the gentleman was busy. #GetEricAPromotion

Flight was delayed 4 hours so didn't arrive until 3 am. Had the skip the line, but we had a compact SUV as a rental, but there was nothing left in any SUV sizes, & my skip line disappeared from the app since the rental was suppose to start at 10 pm so, had to go to the booth in the garage itself. There was 2 people in front of me, but it still went quick, The guy at the counter told me to take any car in garage, including the 2 electric cars, but the Lexus or BMW. National is also part them, so there was a compact SUV on there side. The return was quick & easy. We always rent with Alamo b/c they allow up to pick your car in the class you rented from.

They'll take a debit card if you're an out of town renter and you can show a departing flight on the day you return the car. They wont take a debit card from a local renter. No deposit either
They never vary on the 2nd driver being present
No.
It depends if you registered with Alamo with your credit card and license number. Fill out all information on Skip the counter and go directly to the garage with a bar code.
Once the car is returned there’s elevators & escalators to the top floor, where a tram takes you to the terminal. It’s about 10 minutes in total time. I did see luggage carts when we returned the vehicle but did not use them.
Yes, they usually do. Just reserve one when making reservations.
I love Tampa airport. A train will take you wherever you go. Look for SKYCONNECT Signs
I believe they do charge for car seats (unless they changed their policy). We haven't had one in years, but I remember paying extra for it at the time.
Car is at the airport very easy to get to. People are friendly. No worries at all. Have a good time.
Check the Alamo app. I think 5 people
How about post address for.us
Signs Are Very good; Just Follow The signs. Ask for help. They were also very helpful.
I had no problems... Didn't wait even a sec.
Joyce, I can not say but I suspect you can but they may charge a fee if the pick up and return are not the same location. Car rentals normally prefer their cars to be at the airport. Best to call Alamo to answer your question for certain.
Projecting Car Rental Costs It is a common practice for car rental companies to place a credit card hold of total estimated rental charges plus 25%, with a minimum hold amount of $200. The open-to-buy needs to be larger than the projected amounts. These factors could influence your estimated rental charges. Daily rental charges Seasonal variations Number of rental days Vehicle upgrades charges Vehicle refueling charges So based on your projected 17 day rental a 300 dollar line of credit isnt even close. Also if coming from a foreign country you may need to take the insurance which will add to the total cost
Yes just in check the box that says return the car same location when you make your reservation
You pick up and drop off at the same location, at the new building.
The deposit hold is put on your credit card so you probably don't notice it since it never actually shows up and is released as soon as you return the car. The only way you'd notice it is if you checked your available credit on the card and it would be less that amount. They tell you when you pick it up (but most people don't listen to the schpell) its 150 in Florida.
At one Airport in Florida there was always an upcharge. If I rented off site I always saved money.
Yes. They accept debit and Master Cards
Don't know if there is an Alamo rental at the station. I know that there are some rental stations close.
Yes and it is really quick!
Pre-booked is the cheapest bet and within a couple weeks of your trip. Weekly rates are often the best price.
At the airport
It’s now a train journey away! There is a new car rental building which you need to catch a train to, in my experience it added 20-30 mins (with all the walking as well) onto the ‘old’ way right outside the exit doors!
Typically with the unlimited mileage you can take the car wherever you wish. But you do need to let them know your plans as they do track the vehicles with the sun pass tags, etc. If you leave the State line without notifying them they may consider the vehicle stolen and notify the police...save the hassles and just let them know. We did something similar a few years ago and they did not charge anything extra, but they told me what I outlined above for you. Happy driving!
I used the exit just before I275 on I4 on my way back to Tampa Airport with rental car had 3 gas stations to choose from right off hwy and is only 8 miles from airpot.
I rented a car for a wk , it's bad enough I paid $978. On top of that they charged me $300 extra on the $978 that I already paid in advance. Some garbage about coverage! After returning vechicle . I went to enterprise and paid less and no extra fees or charges ! Coverage & insurance for vehicle already included.
