Timothy was extremely professional and was able to negotiate my 30k in taxes owed to the IRS by doing an offer in compromise and I ended up having to pay $2,500. I’m very thankful to him. I appreciate how extremely attentive he was and how he followed up with me on a regular basis. Highly recommend him in any tax situation.

Through various stupid errors on my own part, I managed to get way behind in tax filing and payment. Most people who've found themselves in that position know how intimidating it can be to try to envision getting the ball rolling to fix it all. Couple that with the general difficulty in dealing with the IRS when you're in that position, and the problem can stretch on much longer. Fast forward to Mr. Hart, whom dumb luck got me connected to. I went looking online for tax lawyers and pulled him out of the list. The dumb luck part was not stopping at the one before him, and not moving to the next one after him. In the first phone call when I had to lay bare the whole embarrassing story of my path to this point, I realized I had chosen the right guy. I expected to hear all sorts of doom and gloom about my prospects (Or worse, a bunch of late-night TV promises that would make no sense), as well as a bunch of admonitions about getting myself here. What I got instead was a very well presented description of the process he could follow, and most importantly, a lot of gentleness and compassion in his mannerisms. This is the part of the review I hope you'll pay the most attention to. If you're reading this review you might have found yourself in a similar position, you feel like crap, and you're scrolling through listings trying to figure out whom to call and whether you can bring yourself to tell your story. Read the rest of this if you like, or better yet, stop and call Mr. Hart's office right now. After the initial call, Mr. Hart started gathering all the IRS data on me and putting together everything we needed to get this going. That led to a meeting in his office where he already had a pile of paperwork to review and work on. This happened in a very small amount of time. If I felt much more hopeful about the outcome after the phone call, it was really driven home here. Although the recovery process for me was going to be difficult, as I wasn't seeking any reductions or settlements, just a plan to get my due amounts caught up, the realization that this was a workable plan and the wolves were going to be sent away from the door was such a relief. And again, what made a big difference to me was the very compassionate way in which Mr. Hart carries himself. I guarantee that no matter how terrible you feel about your tax situation, you WILL feel much better after talking to him. Not only will you feel better, but the problem will be quickly addressed and most likely solved. Obviously it cost some money to have Mr. Hart handle all this for me. Considering the magnitude of the problem and the complete relief at coming up with a solution, I felt that the cost was reasonable and that I got a whole lot of benefit for my money. Although I've been focusing on the IRS, I was obviously also behind with the state, which Mr. Hart handled with equal dexterity. Additionally, Mr. Hart is very good about emails and, barring weekends, I don't think I ever waited more than 24 hours for email responses from him. If you're still reading, my apologies, as I get wordy. But seriously, stop what you're doing and call his office. You are going to feel better soon.

After a divorce and having a previous years tax return incorrect, I hired a CPA to help correct and resubmit the return to the IRS. When that too was returned with a high dollar amount owed and no correction done the CPA basically said I was "out of luck" and was no further help. A referral to Tim Hart, he met me within a few days, reviewed my return that had been filed with all the documentation and knew exactly what the problem was during our meeting. He handled this with the IRS directly, all while keeping me informed during the entire process. Not to mention this was during COVID shutdowns, Mr. Hart assured me he was checking regularly to stay on top of this. I couldn't have had a better Professional to help me through this process. He eliminated stress, kept communication open and resolved the problem. Any tax needs or IRS concerns, Timothy S. Hart is the professional to call!

Mr. Timothy Hart is a very competent and conscientious Income tax Attorney and CPA. Mr. Hart LISTENED to every word that I said concerning my situation. He then evaluated the situation and then devised a solution to my problem. My dilemma occurred during the COVID-19 months and I was anxious for my problem to be resolved. Mr. Hart calmed me down, assuring me that "No news was good news" Mr. Hart Always called me back when I had a question and equally emailed me for the same. There was no judgment or brow beating about my situation, just Professional handling of the facts. I am very very satisfied with his service and I recommend it very highly. Thank you Mr. Timothy Hart!!

A tax lien is what the IRS files when a person or company owes them over a certain amount as security that the tax debt will be repaid. It is similar to how a bank takes out a mortgage on your property when you owe them. The tax lien allows the IRS to seize the property if you do not pay them or reach a deal to pay them a lessor amount. A tax levy is the act of the IRS to take money or property from a person to satisfy a tax debt. Often the levy would be against your wages or a bank account. A wage garnishment is very serious since it most cases it can be a large portion of your salary. For New York State tax debt, it is limited to 10% of your wages.

If the amount of tax debt is larger than what you can afford to pay, then the possible options are a 1) payment plan, or 2) an offer in compromise where we negotiate a settlement of your back taxes. The payment plan option has many variations, that we can discuss with you such as a part-pay installment agreement, and currently not collectible status.
