Receptionist nice and helpful
Sarah
I had called a week ago and left a message, no one called me back. I called again and waited on hold and did finally speak to someone - a very low energy sounding person. This might be a good service but I did not find it offered me any help.

The people at the area agency of aging have been so very helpful for a dear friend of mine with a sick husband. They have guided her thru the different programs for the elderly and made life easier to take care of not only him, but her and her home

Call SSI or go to the office on Colonial Blvd. Prepare to wait
Yes they can help with all kinds of services
You would need to contact them directly. This forum is answered by locals.
They themselves cannot help but they certainly will know where to direct you. The bed bugs are a real problem. The folks there are really nice and will go out of their way to help you.
Constance, We provide both direct and indirect services for older adults. Our Helpline is a toll-free number that provides information about (and referrals to) local resources needed by older adults. It is part of the nationwide Eldercare Locator network. Here in Southwest Florida, we also provide health and wellness workshops that focus on aging issues-- like arthritis-friendly exercise and tai chi for better balance and falls prevention. We also provide caregiver support workshops. Our elder abuse prevention coordinator gives workshops and presentations on how to identify and report abuse, neglect and exploitation. Finally, our SHINE program offers free, unbiased, one-on-one counseling for Medicare recipients, helping them choose a plan, find cost-savings programs, and file claims and appeals. It is part of the national SHIP (State Health Insurance Program). Hope this information helps.
