What a wonderful historical train tour. An amazing look at travel by train and the history of this area of California. Highly recommended. Will try and return for the pumpkin patch run or the Christmas run! Very fun and special.

The experience of cycling on an old railroad track through redwoods is spectacular! What made the ride even more spectacular is that these rail bikes are equipped with battery-powered pedal assist motor so you can save your sweat for other times worth sweating about. We enjoyed the pointview of a train engineer during the heydays of the steam locomotives going on track that curves right and left and going across trestle bridges. It was fun!

Two adults and two kids - two hundred dollars and well worth it. We found the Skunk Train while on an RV trip around the country with our grandsons. Initially, a road sign caught my eye but I discounted it as yet another road side attraction. My wife was interested enough to look it up and it looked interesting enough for a detour. BEST DETOUR EVER!! This is a two hour train ride with a real diesel train and very old passenger cars AND an open car. They take you an hour into the mountains then back. You will see redwoods and travel through a hand carved tunnel. I can’t do justice to just how awesome this ride is. They have a snack bar and a bathroom onboard and you can move freely between the cars!! Regardless of covid, I strongly suggest you wear a mask. This is a real Diesel Train complete with diesel exhaust so the mask will trap a good bit of soot. People working there were so nice and friendly - remember to bring cash for a tip! This excursion was well worth the detour.

The skunk train was AMAZING. So fun, so informational, and the beautiful scenery, cool breezes and even a snack area on the train. I loved that we were able to stop and get out for a little bit, got some great family pictures.. We had the best time.. all 12 of us.. from 3 to 62 Loved it..

Yes, as long as they are leashed.
The one hour ride (Pudding Creek Express) starts and ends in Fort Bragg. It runs at different times throughout the year – this time of year there are 11am and 1pm trains most days. Later in the summer we add a 3pm train, and 4:30pm trains on some weekends.
This is a fun family attraction They even have bicycle rail cars to petal
Just the ones along the way...
Skunk train goes half way from Willits and Fort Bragg.
We offer two main trips – the one-hour roundtrip Pudding Creek Express out of Fort Bragg, and the four-and-a-half-hour roundtrip Northspur Flyer out of Willits. The Pudding Creek Express is $25 for adults and $15 for children, and the Northspur Flyer is $84 for adults and $42 for children. Hours shift throughout the year, but during the summer the train runs most days, with a 9:45am departure from Willits for the Northspur Flyer, and multiple trips each day out of Fort Bragg for the Pudding Creek Express (for example, on Saturdays in June trains leave at 9am, 11am, 1pm, 3pm, and 4:30pm).
Not at all. Its bright and nice out here.
No. Private tracks, NOT connected to Amtrak. You'll have to disembark in either Oakland, San Francisco, Redding or Sacramento and drive to Fort Bragg on the coast. Sorry. Wish you could connect via the train.
Should be free since they are stealing lands under eminent domain
From Fort Bragg, the train goes to Glen Blair Junction, and is there about 20 minutes. Then, returns back to Fort Bragg. It doesn't go thru to Willits at this time.
We just did the pudding Creek one which I think is great if you have small children like us. It was just right for her energy and attention. So if you'd like more of an adventure the longer one might be nice.
Yes. I would suggest you purchase ahead of time.
The building dose, Im sure the friendly staff would help you. Covered and open train cars. I will look for, and ask about it later today
Yes but you pay for each person
Unfortunately we don’t have any availability tomorrow. The 23rd is our next availability.
Online at www.skunktrain.com or at the station in Ft. Bragg or Willits.
There are two trips - the one out of Willits turns around at Crowley, and the one out of Fort Bragg turns around at Glen Blair. There’s a tunnel closure, so no trip from Willits to Fort Bragg at this time.
What equipment are you looking at? The website is clearly laid out and easy to navigate.
Got the word that repairs have started a coke weeks ago. Haven't verified yet.
