Does NOT allow dogs! Multiple signs notifying that dogs are not allowed even though it is listed as a “dog friendly” destination. Probably a beautiful place to hike but we didn’t get to see more than the parking lot.

Great trail! This trail is very clearly marked and goes in several different directions. The trail is not paved. There is a small lake with picnic area less than a mile from trailhead.

Great park with natural prairie grass and ponds. Lower traffic makes it even more enjoyable. Be prepard for some pretty sttep hills if you hike the whole park. The upper loops are are fairly flat on the east side entrance. There is a place to shoot bow/arrows with targets on the west side of the park.

If you want to connect with God and nature this is the place to go. There are tables for a nice picnic. Restrooms are available as well on the NE side of the property. Trails are not paved. Note: Lots of muddy trails after it rains.

I grew up on the Prairie center before it was a state park. The land was owned by Mr. Schanze, who my parents bought their house and land from. I am not quite sure but I believe it was passed down in his family. I will see if I can find out more when I talk to my parents next. The was a tragic story tied to him that I will not post publicly. I know that park well. Such good memories. It was almost magical.
There are no gates, but I believe the area is patrolled like any other hiking area.
No pets, bikes, To many complaints about unruly pets, plus poo and such
