Nice and shady most of the time for our Hot August walks. Incredibly beautiful and you almost get the experience of being deep into the woods next to Nature. But be alert it is possible to encounter snakes along the trail. If you have your pet make certain you are watching out for them too.

I've driven by this place dozens of times, but finally had time to stop. I went for a walk and it was incredibly peaceful even though it's close to the highway. I saw a doe and two fawns, which was really cool.

Great nature hike, well shaded. I enjoyed the variety in the terrain and the wild nature of the brush surrounding the trail. I do think, however, more care could be given to the trail markings. An additional way to help navigate trails could be a QR code at one of the signs or near the education building.

Nice hiking trails on a beautiful fall day. The visitors center has a great nature display including 2 owls & a red tailed hawk. Worth a stop if you have a couple of hours to spare.

The park has a total of about 3 miles of trails combined. Less than a mile is paved. Other trails are dirt trails. The trails are loops, so you can combine them to customize your hike. Pets and bikes are prohibited on our trails. Park and trails are open dawn until dusk daily.
It has both paved and unpaved trails. While I generally stick to the unpaved trails there's enough paved trails to give you a good relaxing walk.
Actually the answer is no. They have specific signs saying no pets on other trails. See their trail map: https://www.jcprd.com/DocumentCenter/View/1004
Yes, a few of the trails are paved and stroller friendly.
You can use a towel to throw over it and gently pick it up. You can buy worms and wild bird seen at Wal-Mart. The state park wont take it. No rehab center there. You may nurse it back to healtj and let it go. Animal control will probably euthanize it.
Pets are not allowed in the nature park.
Yes, you can reserve the covered areas. You have to call johnson county parks and recreation to make the reservation. Reservations are not refundable and are due in full upon the time of reservatuon. You can also do things in the nature building. Thr park opens at sunrise and closes at dusk, and the visitor center is open from 9am to 5p
Hey there, fishing is not permitted at Ernie Miller. Thanks!
$0. Free to the public, regardless of age. *May cost calories as walking is required.
The park and the nature center have no addmission fee. Special events are offered at the nature center and addmission for those depends on the event, but usually runs from $2-20 per person.
