My favorite restaurant in Doylestown. They serve brunch everyday. American food with a twist in flavors and presentation. Have enjoyed this gem for years and will for years to come. Service is fantastic, indoor decor is lovely and outdoor seating gives fantastic view of shops and people watching on State Street.

I’ve been to the The Hattery many times and realize I’ve been taking this gem for granted. My husband and I love this place. It’s tempting to start with the decor, which is unique and whimsical, but I’m going to start with the menu - it’s creative and never disappoints. There’s almost always something new and despite having our go-to favorites, we always try the newest thing because we know it’s going to be delicious. The staff is terrific and they seem to genuinely like each other, which makes the whole experienced relaxed and comfortable. Another great attribute? You can wander in at 10:00 am on a Saturday after a long walk in the park and have an ice cold breakfast beer. Finally? While the prices reflect current inflation- The Hattery isn’t price gouging the way other’s are in the area! Makes it even better!

As soon as we walked in, I was impressed by the decorations; they were unusual and quite beautiful. We did not have a reservation. We were offered a table downstairs but I told the hostess/server that I have some mobility issues and was unable to go down the steep stairs. At that point, we were given a table with the understanding that we had to eat in an hour and 45 minutes because the table was reserved. I asked if we could sit at another empty table, which was by the window, and was told that table was reserved. Shortly after we sat down, a couple came in, they had apparently been offered a table downstairs. I overheard the lady say she was not able to go down the stairs; at that point, an employee asked the couple to follow him. Within minutes, we noticed the couple was being escorted to a table in the lower level. I mentioned this to our server (Denise L) who said they have an elevator. It was never offered to me as an option. She said that it was darker downstairs (I had been using my phone flashlight because I needed light to read the menu) and she noticed I needed more light. When we came in and I said I was not able to walk down the stairs, she never offered me the elevator option; at that point, she did not know I was going to need my phone’s flashlight to read the menu. We ordered the bone marrow escargot as an appetizer. The sauce was tasty but heavy and I couldn’t even see the escargots. I really enjoyed the chicken pot pie. The portion was big. I thought I was not going to be able to eat it all but I was wrong. I ate it all. After we finished our dinner, we stayed in the surrounding area for quite a while. We ended up walking by this restaurant three more times and we noticed all the tables we had been told were reserved, were actually still empty. Overall, this place has good food and the unique decorations are charming. However, it is not a warm, welcoming establishment. It is not hospitable.

We had requested to sit outside, and they were having some trouble with their warmers so they didn't have any. It was a little cold when we sat but warmed up and the food helped tremendously! The French onion soup is a meal in itself! The …
