Me and my girlfriend went to look for a puppy to adopt. We were in luck and there were 3 in the kennels. We fell in love immediately with one, and went to put in an adoption application. We were told there was a hold but they had u til the end of the next day but that those people were very on the fence and didn't seem like they wanted it. So obviously this raised our hope. We called back the next day and apparently they decided to extend the hold for these people even though we were 100% ready to adopt, but they said if we hadn't heard anything by 5pm that means those people more then likely didn't come and pick the puppy up. That day we were around the area and hadn't heard anything so at about 5:15-5 20ish we decided to go in instead of calling. We went and saw the puppy was still in the kennel and then asked about her and we were told that she was being adopted at that moment even though the only other person in there was filling out a first application. Overall the kennels are nice and the dogs are awesome but the staff really gets your hopes up just to let you down from my experiences here. Not the first time something like this has happened unfortunately.

I absolutely love this place. The shelter is organized and allow space for each animal to have their own individual space and when you go to adopt they have a playroom that you get to bring your animal in to play with before adopting. My cat was taking care of so well that when I brought her home I hardly noticed any trauma. She integrated so seamlessly and I attribute that to the wonderful staff and volunteers who care so much!

I volunteer here and absolutely love it! This place tries so hard to find forever homes for their animals and makes sure they are as happy and comfortable as possible for the duration of their stay. The “high” kill rate that I have seen in other reviews is simply not true, the only time an animal is put down is when it is truly the most humane thing to do for an animal. Also the other reviews complaining about the holding system, the shelter can not control how many people are interested in an animal. Their job is to make sure the animal finds a loving home, and if an animal is friendly, cute and lovable of course it’s going to have lots of interest. I’ve volunteered at other shelters and humane societies and this place works much harder to care for the forgotten, neglected, and misplaced animals in the area. They are clean, organized and the staff truly love and want the best for the animals.

We were in the process of adopting a cat and we had expressed that we are 100% ready to adopt a specific cat. They told us all we had to do was wait as they called our landlord to get approval on our pet security deposit which was 500 dollars and that we could go out and get lunch or run some errands. We come back and in that hour someone else had come in and placed a hold on the same cat. Somehow there hold was more important than our guarantee to adopt the cat and we were now second in line for the cat. Today we just found out that person got the cat and the only comfort they gave us was that they get cats in every day and we can always check back in for another one even after spending the time to chose that specific cat for our home. Now we are down 500 dollars on a pet security deposit with no cat to show for it. A man who had helped us was very helpful but a woman working front desk yesterday was not and was being very rude to us after we told her how we felt we were crossed by there system.

Whatever is up on the website is what is for adoption. However you can put an interest on animals that aren't up for adoption yet by going down to their shelter.
The only time they kill an animal is due to severe sickness or aggression so bad that it cannot be safely rehomed. While not technically being a no kill shelter, they do fit the requirements, which is to have over 95% of animals leave alive. And often they are even higher.
Dogs, cats, and some small animals (rabbits, guinea pigs, etc.). www.hsco.org
Come up with the big buck$.
Great no one replies…I too am wondering about spay and neuter for rabbits. I rescued a boy who was cold and starving. Someone dumped off in LaPine and then another rabbit showed up but would not come to us. The boy rabbit has been living in our home for 2 months now. She showed up again, gave birth under our deck, we were very surprised, so now I have nine rabbits just like that. Still can not catch this mama but we have the babies and would like to make sure they are all ok. One is missing an eye and we just want to do the right thing and stop the breeding.
They frequently have Guinea pigs, but not always. They also usually have rabbits and sometimes ferrets. You can call and ask.
Thats about it. I generally work with the cats so im not the one to ask
Yes you could
Yes
Yes
Not to the general public, no. To their animals, yes.
No, they do drop off only
It's free at dove lewis
It depends how long the dog has been there. The charge goes up for every day they are there. And if PD or animal control brings them in they may or may not request citation fees. Also depends if your dog is licensed. Probably best just to call and ask because there are a lot of variables.
Note that they'll have to make an appointment to drop her dogs off. Phone number is on the website. Sorry to hear this.
Yes to both
Appt only!
