Is there a stop for Myrtle Beach South Carolina
Yes. It runs in both directions leaving their respective station, either Lorton, Virginia running south or Sanford, Florida running north. Normally the train pulls out at 4 o'clock in the afternoon. One needs to be at the station at least two hours before to check in and for the car to be loaded. Usually the train pulls into the station at the other end around 9 a.m. It usually takes at least one hour for the car to be unloaded. From 15 years experience I find the earlier you check your car in, the more likely your car Will be one of the last to be unloaded. Also, over the years there is a notable difference in the quality of the Autotrain. The seats have long passed their time for replacement. The quality of the food has really deteriorated and worse is the personnel are not as friendly or helpful.
Pick up map at station. It sends you to 95N, to 485, to 270, then 81N to PA & Western NY.
Auto train runs about 850 miles. From Lorton Va to Sanford Florida. No where else. No stops in between. 19 hour trip.
There is one train daily that leaves Lorton Station at 4 pm. The one and only stop is Sanfotd Florida. Last permitted arrival time is 2:30 pm.
There is a maximum height and width you need to find out what that is by either calling Amtrak or Googling for the information .I'm pretty sure the width mirror to mirror is 84" it may also be the same for height

The only difference is the order in which your car is unloaded from the train at its destination. As long as you get there before the listed requirement nothing will change.
If you purchased a sleeper car accommodations, you will receive dinner. If you purchased a coach seat, you can purchase a meal, not the same as sleeper car's meal, like a burger, salad, erc.

Your wait time will depend on the arrival time of the train and their unloading of the vehicles getting off. Plus the number of vehicles in line before you. They also clean the train before the next departure.
Dont! I did that and the time was the same. However them back roads ARE REALLY BACKROADS! In the end, the Gps will 0lace you rightback on 95. I drove from nyc down. This was my experience.

As I entered the station I saw a sign, 85 inches tall is the limit. They no longer charge extra for oversize vehicles all cars, trucks, Van's pay the same. Motorcycles are less than a vehicle fyi.

After being the last vehicle off the first couple of times ... We now pay the priority fee. Though we were usually within the first 5 cars on line when they opened the gate. AutoTrain says it's totally random, but it has to be a little bit FILO (First In - Last Out), I just cannot fathom how they could possibly queue all those cars and truely randomly pull them into the carriers. That would take too long & be a logistical nightmare. IF they admitted to FILO ... everyone would be showing up at 1:45 ! JMHO ;-)

Person and vehicle require separate tickets. So, one ticket per car and one ticket per each person. We travelled in May with three vehicles and three people, so got three vehicle tickets and three person tickets.
You can't ride from Sanford to New York Penn. Sanford and Lorton stations are for AutoTrain only. You'll need to catch a train from Winter Park or Deland to go to New York Penn.
Free internet access is offered here but with the daily heavy demand, bandwidth is poor.
