Always friendly. Always clean. Always thanked. It is the only center I use now. They are the BEST hands down.

Go to Weymouth or Dedham. People here are miserable. Edit: I had donated platelets for a couple years but took a break due to covid. I'm 22 and have always been complimented on my veins. The database didn't show my prior donations and the woman helping me was nothing but condescending as if it was my first visit. She repeatedly commented on how poor my veins are. No, two weeks later while I'm donating elsewhere, I was deferred due to the needle poke not being healed from her digging in my arm. She attempted to use poor excuses for her lack of experience. I will not be returning to this location EVER again.

The last time that I donated platelets was in July of 2019 after donating multiple times before that. Prior to this appointment, all of my experiences had been positive. That last time, however, the phlebotomist was new and did not seem confident in placing the catheter in my wrist rather than my forearm, as that was where the best vein was. Long story short is that she did not place the catheter in correctly and I was taken off the apheresis machine after 40 minutes, instead of completing the 2 hours. I did not think much of it at that moment, but about a week later I noticed a bump in that wrist where the needle went in that has persisted ever since. Sometimes my wrist has sharp pains, other times they're dull, sometimes it feels numb, but overall it has not felt the same since that day that I donated. I used to enjoy working out and now I find myself hesitating because of the pain and weakness in my wrist. I did go back into Red Cross about it and they told me that it was nerve damage and that it would heal by itself. Now, almost a year and a half later, I am struggling to get an MRI (or any other imaging/testing) approved because of it being such a random accident. And because I signed the waiver to donate, I don't see American Red Cross being eager to help me find answers.

You can call 1800redcross to find out. Sorry I am not sure
The Raynham donation center takes all types of donations now whether it be whole blood, platelets or plasma. They have 12 or so machines that separate platelets and plasma from whole blood or you can do a regular whole blood donation. The compensation you get is knowing that you helped potentially save someone's life! Cookies, crackers, juice and water are free after you donate. The staff is top notch and you can watch free Netflix while you donate.
There is no compensation for donations. However, they do run "promotions" at times where gift cards to places like Dunkin Donuts can be earned. They usually are small amounts and sometimes emailed.
