A great spot for novice or intermediate trails (more so in the way of distance than trail difficulty). There are great trails on both sides of 93, so take the time to explore. There are also some local groups that do group birdwatching and hikes that you can look up. I was lucky enough to live right in the fells for a couple of years, and proudly can say I’ve done all but two trails. One major downside is there is an extreme lack of crosswalks that cross some of the major roads that run through the park. For instance, I lived across from spot pond, but had to walk 3/4 of a mile to safely cross the road at a crosswalk. I often times just sprinted across, but my partner’s vision isn’t great, so he was unable to easily explore the park. The DCR and water authority do a good job of Maintaining trails, but the DCR should be embarrassed by their lack of accessibility.

We discovered this area by a friend, although it’s less than 10 minutes from our home. We visited the area twice and walked through different trails. It’s a beautiful beautiful place. I plan to go there multiple times and discover more trails. Be cautious where you park! We parked in Lower Sheep Fold parking lot on a Sunday after 7:00 pm, and we got a notice! So if you plan to go there, park your car before dusk. The top part of the Middle Reservoir was closed as in the 5th of June 2022 but you could easily take the detour and go to the woods again. There was some bike loops trails. Also, in South Reservoir areas we saw a deer. Another place we visited was in s border Rd, we parked in the South Dam Rd parking lot without any limitations and took a walk through the area. It was magnificent. I extremely recommend it.

I took the kids to Middlesex Fells Reservation for a hike, I have been wanting to check out Wright Tower which you can see from route 93. So we hiked up to the tower and then up to check out the stone sculpture. The view of the Boston skyline is awesome even though the tower was not open, and the sculpture offered an adventure to find something in the park. Depending on the trail some were harder than others, not all are stroller friendly. Though if you want a challenging hike close to Boston, about 9 miles away, this is a great place to explore. I'll be taking the kids back to explore more. Be warned this is a nature preserve and there were no porta potties of the like on site.

The view is so worth it. The entire time hiking/trekking you don't feel stressed. There are different points/locations to explore, one better than the other. Dog walking or simply solo is your way to go! I went with my friend group and enjoyed the Boston skyline view and our little packed breakfast! Amazing and fresh air! Will definitely be on my favorite list of Mass trails!

Off trail activity is not allowed. It leads to habitat destruction. It is patrolled by DCR and park rangers.
I believe there's a closing time but I wasn't looking at that particular thing then. I'd call their parks department and get the real news.
Entry is free and you can go on about as you like.
The paths are not crowded at all. Once in a while cross paths with someone. Some sections more frequented than others.

I have in Spot Pond. Haven't tried anywhere else.
Right across from Stone zoo is a spot with free parking and a small playground with benches.
The Fells is open, I don't know about rentals.
It's 5 minutes into the Cascade Trail: https://www.bostonmagazine.com/best-of-boston-archive/2015/the-cascade-at-middlesex-fells-reservation/
Yes. There are flat fire roads and a designated mountain bike trail. Access from any of the trail heads is fine.
You need a state license to fish at Wright's pond. No fishing allowed at any of the reservoirs.
That's what I said! Bathrooms are extremely important.
I have walked it many times seen a lot of different wildlife and have never had a problem but always be aware of your surroundings
fire and grilling are not allowed.
The 100 bus and 325 both bring you around the corner from Wright's Tower. The 99 brings you to Spot Pond.
I don't remember exactly but about 20
