This is easily my favorite location to kayak. Quiet and calm, and lots of nature. Highly recommend checking it out. The dirt overflow lot can be a little hard to find your first go, so maybe look it up first.

I love this place for kayaking. Very pleasant staff, check-in and checkout is easy. I kayaked in both directions and I found going towards Newton smoother than West Roxbury. However, I saw more wildlife going towards West Roxbury. Regardless, I enjoy kayaking along this part of the Charles and I highly recommended this location.

Shallow waters in many spots, relaxing day out, wildlife to observe, picnic tables to sit before and after to wind down. More popular location than a few others of Paddle Boston. During COVID, weekend reservations were starting to fill up three days before, whereas other locations are empty until the day before.

Great place for kayaking or canoeing. Peaceful and quiet lake. The staff was nice and helpful

Hello Margie! thank you so much for your inquiry. All of our rental sites are equipped with so many kayaks and so much equipment that we are able to accommodate most groups as walk up customers, on a first come, first serve basis anytime during our regular business hours. If you are coming on a weekend in the middle of the day, I would schedule a little bit of extra time in case there are some short lines for registration or for getting into equipment due to the volume of walk up customers we service everyday, but we have gotten very efficient over the years and are able service customers fairly quickly even on those busier days. I hope this helps, and we hope to see you and your friends and family soon!
It ends in a dam so probably not the best without a paddle
the park is technically closed at dusk but the gate is never closed
Yes! I did
Not a good place to fish on that side od the river some parts of the river is very shallow.
Charles River Canoe and Kayak has 5 rental locations . The public is invited to launch their own boats at all.
