Homeless shelter for brockton residents... If you come from somewhere else they allow 3 days at this shelter. Shelter does not allow food to be brought in.

The people that run it are just mean and abuse the power that they have over people that have nothing and no one with no where to go. And they enjoy putting people in the street they get off on it

Alright for a homeless shelter. If you have to stay there watch your belongings of course. Must leave around 6am with everything. There's a temporary employment center, complete staffing and labor, about a block away.

Stayed two nights. Staff were great the first night, 2nd some had an attitude. Was way overcrowded and was given just a mat to sleep on. Only two bathrooms in the women's dorm and one would not lock. Overall the place was just dirty and it being a wet shelter, they take in practically anyone with an ID. Mentally unstable and those of various substance abuse are the norm. That in combination with the crowding and unsanitary conditions, I just felt unsafe. However I don't want to seem ungrateful I am thankful for the warm nights and meals. They do help a lot of ppl. I probably could have stayed longer... Torn between 2 and 3 stars. It's not the best shelter I have been to, but there are far worse. If you're in the area and need shelter give them a shot.

The one at 54 N. Main Street in Brockton is for single adults only. (You can be a couple but are separated to male or female sides while staying.) It is a shelter that goes on a nightly basis, first come/first serve. They serve dinner and coffee/donuts in the a.m. before they make you go. They are not open during the day for shelter. If you are looking for family shelter or anything other than what I described you'd have to talk to their workers to get pointed in the right direction.
