Be VERY careful. I decided to check myself in because, for the first time in my life, I felt like I needed serious and intensive dual diagnosis assistance (addiction recovery and mental health services). After a brief check-in process, I was dumped into the middle of the facility with no guidance, or recovery plan, to fend for myself. After two full days of wandering into various group counseling sessions and doing my best to go with the flow it became clear that the staff is not properly trained or educated to provide mental health treatment. When you start asking real questions (may I please see a physician, who is the medical director, when will I see a licensed therapist, etc.) the staff (mostly recovered addicts, young, no formal education, but personable and kind) becomes flustered and often do not know the answers. Their philosophy: you and the other patients are there to figure out how to get better with each other - on your own - with staff to supervise your conduct for safety. Nothing more. I decided it was time to check myself out when I forced a meeting with a “therapist” (self-titled) after two days of asking the nursing staff to see a physician. There are no doctors on staff, only a single nurse practitioner who is gruff, abrupt, and speaks English as a second language. If you go to Valley Vista, PLEASE be sure that you can advocate for yourself. If you cannot they will ignore you. This is NOT the place to go if you need a structured environment staffed with mental health professionals. At BEST they should be forced to reform every aspect of their process.

Beware don't go there. Most have no experience and just read out of books or printed things off the computer. Valley Vista must have found Therapist Mark at a yard sale in the free box's cause he's useless for his job title. Dan the RA acts my like a corrections officer then anything. Alot of good great folks there who like to help but the place is a joke. Find a better place before u go there.

I have to say that Valley Vista saved my life and for that I will be forever grateful, thankful. B-Side I have to say that it's been the best detox/21 day place I have admitted myself I'm too ( been to a lot). The staff was really good had working and tried to help you when they could(green shirts you guys rock). And the therapist are really good they will make you start doing work if your serious and it's about you so yeah you have to hunt them down... Is a very clean facility, and food was the best food I ever ate at a detox. And they are are always friendly. The best part of the whole stay was all the solid, tight, sober, group of guys I might. The worst part is that the nurse with all they are up against there hands are tied, with no doctor on site they can't properly do their job, have to call a doctor in or on Skype😰

Rude staff, strict rules, low quality food, always cold. Will switch you’re meds or Med cycles as soon as you get there. Therapist doesn’t listen properly and will call you a liar. We also had to pay a $5,000 copay and got a bill in the mail for $10,000 and that’s with good insurance. * update * They were in direct violation of their contract billing that copay. Billed the wrong insurance company, messed up my discharge paperwork. I went in 5/31 and left 6/12. Continuing care plan says I went in 6/2 and left 6/5. The only reason I got my court date adjourned is because I was in rehab. If it wasn’t for my councilors and my insurance company I would be going to jail today.

There is a wait list and they go down the list to give you a call. If you answer, you get a bed, if not they go onto the next name. You must have completed your intake screening first to get on the list. 4

Hi Kristy: That should be discussed with your Primary Therapist when you meet.
Hi Belinda, yes you can. Here's how to address the letter: Person's Name c/o Valley Vista 23 Upper Plain Bradford, VT 05033 Hope that helps!

If you're referring to knowing if a patient is there or not, federal guidelines (HIPAA) prevents patient information from being shared unless authorized by the patient. As for flowers being sent, please call 802.222.5201 x314.
No
Valley Vista no longer offers services for adolescents.
Brian is exactly correct. Cell phones are not permitted. Our clients are able to make treatment-related calls, as necessary. Personal calls can be made every other night.
Good morning, Adam. Yes, we accept Vermont Medicaid as well as Fidelis and CDPHP from New York. Contact 802.222.5201 and hit option 1 and your insurance can be verified.
Sorry...what are DDPs?
Visiting hours typically last a couple of hours.
Hi there. Assuming you're the patient there, visiting takes place on the weekends, typically one day per week. We don't have pictures of our facilities, sorry.
Hi Angela: our men's and women's programs are gender-specific and as such, there is no interaction between the programs. Thank you for contacting us.
Hi Samantha, please call our admissions department at 802.222.5201 extension 101. They can help make arrangements for an admission. As long as there is a bed available on the date you wish to come in, It might work. However, they are best at answering that question.
Hi Marjorie, sorry for the somewhat delayed response. We don't do reservations and operate on a first come, first served basis. Currently, we do not have a wait list on the women's unit. However, that may change. When ready, we can be contacted at which time we'll conduct an approximately 10 - 15 minute screening via phone to help determine clinical need and appropriateness for the Valley Vista treatment program. Assuming clinical need exists and acceptance into our program, and if a bed is available, admission can occur the same day. Hope that helps.
No.
Good morning. Yes we support MAT, methadone and buprenorphine, and will continue a patient's treatment as long as a last dose letter and letter indicating the patient will be accepted back into their existing prescriber's program upon completion of the Valley Vista program, are provided. We will also work with patients that are on an existing MAT program using Vivotrol.
Yes, patients can smoke. Cigarettes that are brought to the facility must be in an unopened, manufacturer’s sealed packaging.
Valley Vista is a voluntary treatment center and as such is not a locked facility. Gates exist on premises to separate the gender-specific units' outside areas and as such are not locked. Once a patient is admitted for treatment, unless the patient decides to leave against medical advise, patients will be accompanied by a staff member for treatment-related appointments that may take place offsite.
Our average length of stay is about 28 days. It depends upon the patient, in terms of length of time.
Feel free to call me at 802.222.5201 x327. Perhaps I can help?
Hi Kristy: please visit our website’s resource page, there is an inventory checklist.
Less than a week. However, a phone screening is essential in order to get on the list. Call 802.222.5201 extension 309 or 310 for our admissions team.
