AMC Highland Center at Crawford Notch

This is a well staffed center. The rangers there are well versed in knowing the myriad of hiking trails that make up the Crawford Notch region. The staff is friendly and patient with novices, as well as expert in giving counsel to seasoned hikers! The center is clean and pleasant inside and out. They have a nice (but pricey) store with various hiking clothing and energy bars and the traditional stuffed animals, etc. if you have need. Outside of the Center you will find a little, peaceful trail to savor, and some nice seating to enjoy being still. It can get really busy on weekends, so prepare to wait if you need to talk with rangers!

I did not stay overnight but visited during a hike from Massachusetts. Staff is very friendly and the place is very clean, plus you get the amazing views from the outdoor seating area.

I was planning to do a 5-day backpacking trip in the area, but due to lack of experience, I had to cut it to a 3-day hike. Luckily, This place was only a 3-mile road walk from the trail head I came out of. The people running the shuttle service were extremely good at logistics, and managed to shuttle everyone, including us, to their trail heads. Amazing service. 5/5.
