Pleasant park with this mysterious tower, possibly built by the Nights Templar. Wonder what it's original purpose was?

Intriguing historical site in Newport, a seemingly simple stone tower with a lot of debate on its origins. Some people claim it was built by Vikings during the Leif Erikson expeditions, while others believe it is the remnants of a Portuguese or even Chinese built structure. There’s even a small group of people (my mom included) that believes it was built by ancient aliens! Whatever its origins, it makes for a wonderful place to sit, think, and enjoy the day.

Beautiful and peaceful walk in this park. All the park smells like a wonderful perfume and is the amazing 🌳 trees plant there.

It’s a pretty cozy and well organized space inside downtown Newport. There are many benches around which people can find one to rest, read or simply enjoy the breeze. Very comfortable area.

Yes Jim at the Newport Tower Museum has written numerous books that explains who built the tower. Tomorrow (winter solstice) we meet at the tower and watch the key stone light up and the sun shines through two windows at the same time really cool I go every year.
