Park is opposite the 'front' of Rogers HS. Did not see anyplace to park so I used the HS parking lot (glad school was out). The trail was interesting. It was narrow, filled with tree roots and rocks. Definitely not for strollers. I couldn't tell which way - or which trail - I was on. So hopefully you won't be in a hurry exploring here! I gave it 3 stars because it was difficult to find, parking was scarce, navigating trails was a curious task :)

Great trails some rough patches but overall a great place to hike

Very pretty views in this small but fun to hike park (lots of changing elevations as you got around the quarry in particular). However, SO MANY TICKS. We went in late april and pretty much stuck to the main paths and didn't go into any overgrown areas, and we (2 adults, one young teen and a medium dog) had more ticks on us than I have ever seen before. An hour of hiking/walking tops and we had 5 or 6 on the humans and probably 12-15 on the dog.

Ballard park has an excellent outdoor event series from Movies in the Park in August, bands during July, and the Illuminated Garden in January. The park programming also has great programming for kids all year long, and never dissapoints the local community. The park is a great spot off the normal tourist paths of Newport so definitely check it out when you can, lots so see and hike! Get back out to nature!
