Excellent mansion and museum about Doris Duke. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Beautiful garden. This is a gem!

The entire cliff walk is a wonderful stroll and gives you the view of the Atlantic and the back of some mansions. Most of the trail path is paved and easy walking there are some rocky points for minimal climbing as needed. From one end to the other in the back is about 7 miles but You can just do portions.

Great display! Was hoping the second floor can be kept more original. Part of second floor was renovated to look like art gallery. Kids loved the scavenger hunt!

Very interesting to see a home that was in the transition from early to late 1900’s. It’s too bad they don’t have more information on Doris Duke. I’m sure the gardens are even more beautiful in summer. Some of the interior parts of the house are definitely going to need worked on soon.

I'm not sure. I just looked at my brochure and it doesn't give that information.

Hello, There isn't access to Rough Point's backyard from the cliff walk. If you would like to just visit our grounds, you can purchase a Grounds Only pass for $5. For more on this please visit, newportrestoration.org/reopening. Thank you!
The tickets for Rough Point which is part of the Newport Restoration Foundation (NRF) is $20 for adults, $10 for students, and free for children 12 and under. Active duty military and families get free admission from May - September 2nd. You can just walk the grounds for a $5 fee or see all of Rough Point plus the Samuel Whitehorne House Museum (an amazing collection of furniture) for $25.
Yes it was $23-$25. Pricey, BUT this house's history with Doris Duke is so interesting, the tour is fabulous, house and displays are great with some amazing history, pieces and surprises. Inspired me to read 4 books about Doris Duke!
