One of the best ways to spend a day exploring! And so affordable! Lots of touring at our own place, hiking all over the grounds, including down to the beautiful beach, and exploring the different gardens. An afternoon well-spent.

We often go to visit Castle Hill on the Crane Estate in Ipswich during either the spring or autumn. We visit today in mid July and the grounds were beautiful. It was a perfect day. We walked down the lawn to the oceans edge and had lunch on a bench looking across the water at Plum Island. We then explored the grounds and the rose garden. A perfect day to visit Cape Ann. I recommend a visit. Book a ticket for parking online before leaving home to assure entrance or become a Trustee member for year round free entrance.

Very nice grounds. Good if you want somewhere to walk a little bit. Beach was pretty but average for the area. Beautiful gardens. A great place to get nice family pictures and selfies!

** Unique castle tour ** I loved how they tour you with some interaction between the fellow visitors. Our guide was very polite and allowed us to look at things and answered all the questions. One suggestion though is to allow a little more time to absorb all the beauty of the castle. The surrounding is jaw droppingly pleasant. I recommend anyone looking for a castle tour in summers.

They don't really close they just have seasonal hours. If you're asking if the castle is open I wouldn't bank on it, but the grounds and beach are open and staffed until dusk year round
Believe so. May require permission. Check their website.
The castle and all other buildings on the grounds are closed this season due to the virus. No plans to reopen til next year. Grounds are still immaculate and worth the visit to walk. Call ahead for entry pass.
How close can a handicapped person get to the entrance for a private party?
Green heads are mostly an issue between the full moon in June to the full moon in July.
Hi Chris, visit www.thetrustees.org/passes to book a Timed Entry Pass. Thanks, and enjoy your visit!
$20 a car to access the grounds, unless you have a resident pass. Visit the homepage to see if the inside is open, as Covid restrictions has closed that portion down.
You have to purchase a pass ahead of time. The guard at the gate has a list of names who have booked in advance and will allow only if your name is in that list
Sorry don't know You should download a plant ID app
Yes, the grounds are open year round from 8am to sunset. The Great House is open 10am-5pm.
$15 peer car non-member, free for members of the trustees. A $70 family membership grants you discounted/free access to 118 properties across Massachusetts. I love my membership! ❤️ www.thetrustees.org
Yes it is open. The tour prices vary depending on the one that you pick. It is cheaper if you are a member of The Trustees of the Reservation. I suggest that you Google Castle Hill to see the choices
Yes. Per their website: Trustees Members: FREE. Nonmembers: $15 per car, $2 per bicycle, $5 per motorcycle. Ipswich Residents: FREE on weekdays. Nonmember admission rates on weekends. Self-guided, first-floor tours of the Great House are free with grounds admission.
The trustees.
I recommend a minimum of one hour. That is time to wander the house, and walk the Grand Alee as far as the casino complex. If you want to add time, walk the Alee all the way to the cliffs by the beach, and/or wander through the recently restored Italian gardens.
Yes there is you have to pay to get in but the parking is free as well as the tour of the first floor
