By far one of the best beaches to go to in Massachusetts. Plum Island is 11 miles long and you can easily spend days here hiking, cycling, sun bathing, birdwatching, nature viewing, and swimming.

Just love going here. From the sunrises/sunsets to the wildlife this place grounds me when I am stressing from my week. Stroll the beach, take the boardwalk trails. Watch turkey, deer, rabbits and of course the different species of birds. If it's warm take a swim and just relax in the sand. Plum Island is an oasis only an hour from Boston or my home in NH.

I saw more wildlife today than I have in the last 3 weeks combined; wish the visitor center was open and there were trail maps though. Entry is cash/check only, but only $5 for a day pass -- very reasonable.

Questions & Answers

Is there a spot where we can park and launch our own kayaks?

Parker River National Wildlife Refuge, just after the entrance on the right. Parking lot within walking distance.

The google directions just take you to a boat place. Where can you park to walk through the marshes?

Only accessable via boat or 7 mile walk from Craines beach parking lot south on beach

I hear there is a very nice boardwalk in the marsh, but I don't see where it is.
