I don’t knit or crochet, but my sister in law requested a high quality yarn for Christmas. The owner was so helpful. She guided me through every aspect of choosing the right pieces. Very attentive. Large large selection to choose from, and the gift was a hit. The shop is beautiful in its set up too.

love this little shop, it has lots of yarn to choose from and some pretty good prices, whoever reads this should totally go spend lots of money at this shop! because its yarn........... who DOESN'T need it!!

Loved this store and owner could not have been nicer or more helpful. Great selection of yarn and so well organized. Wish I lived nearby! Lots of inspiration and help.

The people who work in the shop are wonderful. I can't say enough nice things about them. However, I can't say I'm impressed with the current yarn selection. I have gone in several times looking for DK superwash wool in the last few years, and it never gets added despite my comments. When I tried to special order a specific yarn this past year, the clerk took my order, I waited two weeks and since I"d heard nothing dropped back in the shop. The owner had refused to order the yarn, and no one had bothered to notify me. It's getting more and more discouraging to shop there because the yarns I actually liked that they carried seem to have been replaced with ones I'm not a fan of. If I want acrylic DK I can find it cheaper at JoAnne's. I really want to support a local store. I've spent hundreds of dollars there since the store opened, but repeatedly in the last couple of years I've resorted to Knit Picks because I simply can't find the appropriate yarn for a project at GMF. After my last experience with special ordering I have no desire to try to do that again. I guess my taste in yarns and colors is different from the owner's, and my idea of customer service doesn't fit hers either. It's too bad because her employees are super and the atmosphere of the shop is really welcoming. If what you want is novelty yarns, llama, alpaca, silk, etc. for shawls it's a great place. It could easily currently be shawl central. If you like the color selection of the worsted weight wool and don't need more than 4 or 5 skeins at a time it's also great. If you want local handspun variety yarn, they have it. The sock yarns are still pretty nice. However, if you need large quantities of yarn for a big project, if you want DK wool for a baby project, I'd suggest looking elsewhere.Ironically, I just ordered shawl yarn from Knit Picks to make my order large enough for free shipping. So GMF not only lost my yarn sale for DK yarn because they didn't carry it. They also lost a sale of shawl yarn which they do carry. It really is a nice little store. I just wish they'd do a customer survey instead of relying on their current method of yarn selection.Update: the new owner has made so many changes and so many improvements, including a better selection of yarns and a really accommodating attitude! Yay.

I wouldn't say they have any cheap yarn...like Walmart, Michael's etc. They have very competitively for the quality yarn they have. There are some very nice good quality yarns at reasonable prices. They have a range of yarns definatly worth the stop to check it out.
