The forest was a nice blend of aspens and pine. There was some downed timber in places, but a lot easier off trail hiking than say Rocky Mountain National Park.

Quiet, dark, peaceful. Not too over crowded at the moment. Remember to pack in and pack out.

Incredible times. I have never seen black volcanic glacial moraines until hiking across the Flattops. Small, thriving, lava-rock-filtered kettle at the intersection of Trapper's Gulch and the China Wall trail is totally different from the many, many glacial kettles I have seen before. There are a few, better dispersed sites after Mosquito Lake rather than at the aptly-named lake.
