Sad to say we probably won’t ever use this Animal Hospital again after being loyal happy customers for almost 10 years. When are dog was showing signs of sickness we called the vet asking for an emergency appointment as she really needed to be seen. Was told they don’t have emergency appointments and that we could come in the next day around noon. We brought her the next day and after being seen was told she needed emergency surgery but they could not do it. They told us we could call around to different vets and emergency hospitals ourselves to see who could do it. We were shocked as they didn’t even offer to help call different places as we weren’t even sure what surgery we should be asking about . Finally a a few minutes of asking for help they agreed to call a few for us. They called upstate emergency vet who wanted $8,000 for the surgery. Thank god we have a family member who works in the veterinary medical field who told us not to go there and referred us to a vet that charged $2,000. Fast forward to now and we call them to board our dog there something we have done at their clinic for almost 10 years and they inform us they no longer do boarding. It would have been nice to notify your loyal boarding customers when you closed it that you were no longer doing boarding. Honestly I don’t ever see my family using this vet clinic again. With no emergency appointments, surgeries they can perform, and now no boarding I don’t see the point.

The entire staff at River Road is incredibly kind, intelligent, and friendly! Harvest is my first pet on my own, so I was definitely nervous, and he has come with so many surprises, but River Road has been there through it all! I truly don't know where Harvest would be without the care of all of the staff members. They remember Harvest and I and ask how we're doing, and they're so prompt in returning phone calls or emails! Dr. Valin always takes time to explain all of Harvest's results and options to me, and I always feel like I'm completely in the loop with whatever we decide. I highly recommend River Road to anyone I know who has a furry friend of their own!

Wonderful, caring people. All the doctors are knowledgeable, skilled, and compassionate. Everyone from the front desk staff to the vet techs to the docs and the groomer are great with our dog and cats. They return calls promptly, always follow up after visits, and have always been very good about fitting us in for appointments if a pet becomes ill. We've taken our pets here for nearly 10 years and have only good things to say. We'd unhesitatingly recommend RRAH to anyone.

They get you in and out reasonably quickly without feeling rushed. I felt like the vet tech and the vet herself took the time to address my concerns as well as give my cat a thorough examination. They're decently priced too.

How willing are you to take a call in an emergency after hours?

I would probably call them directly for this information. This is a public forum you have posted to, and you run the possibility of receiving incorrect information.

How much do you/they charge for a TPLO or TTA surgery? I have a dog with 2 partial tears in his rear legs and Im looking for a general ball park price.

They don't do this surgery at River Road, but we got the best price for the area for our dog at Cornerstone in Clifton Park. I can't remember the exact cost, and with covid supply disruptions it may be more expensive anyways, but it was cheaper than the other two places we talked to. And we love them there. This was our second TPLO for the same dog. The first one she had was in like 2013 in Florida. It was cheaper there, but everything is more expensive up here. We appreciated how much more Cornerstone took care of our old gal compared to the place in Florida. We also went there when River Road was down a doctor and we had to get our kitty in quick. So they're our second emergency vet since we don't get charged for the non-client emergency fee. They're great there.
