I got a new dog and needed to find a doggie day care for my pup. The new client City Dog application was easy and I was able to make a next-day reservation for evaluation. I took my dog in at 7:30 am and picked her up at 7:30 pm. I have never seen her so happy!! She was wagging her tail the entire way home. City Dog even gave her a complimentary bath for her first visit! They also gave me a picture to take home and posted one on their front door to welcome her. From my initial experience, I would definitely recommend this place!

I love bringing my dogs to citydogs for doggy daycare. They come home happy and dog tired. I love reading my daily report cards, so cute :) The staff are friendly with me and observant of my pups’ needs. For example, my dogs are in between a big dog and a small dog size. Ginsy is confident and can play with any sized dog, the David is beta and submits easily to bigger dogs, but they are bonded. One day, David wasn’t having as much fun in the big dog room. So, the staff moved them both to the small dog room to see if that was more enjoyable. It was! Since then, both my pups get the most out of their visits and are always excited to go back. The one downside is that the facility is indoors and the floors are tile. It’s inevitable their paws will be a little stinky when they get home. But you can’t blame city dogs for that! This is very common for doggy daycares in the city; It comes with the territory. I recommend using “Scrubby rinse free shampoo mittens” with oatmeal waterless shampoo or oatmeal wipes. It’s a great alternative to a full bath that will still get them clean. If it’s time for your dog to get a bath, city dogs has bathing services that are affordable. And they schedule the bath around when you will pick your pup up, so they are fresh and clean when you arrive.

My energetic beagle mix Pablo goes into City Dogs daycare very enthusiastically. He comes home tired & happy. Buying the pass makes it reasonably priced. I love the photos on the door welcoming the new dogs! Great place!

My furry kid’s first day was amazing! We felt so welcomed, especially seeing his personal ‘Welcome’ sign. The staff were patience, friendly and attentive, all the qualities my senior dog needs. I truly appreciated the video update of my pup- to see that he didn’t appear anxious and was very intrigued. I’m excited for my pup to join the City Dog family!

We are actually the daycare, not the rescue. But all the rescue animals are located in private foster homes. Please complete their application to meet one! citydogsrescuedc.org/adopt
Yes, a form you fill out and provide references. Form or contact info available on website.
$400 for a puppy/dog under 7 years old; $200 for a senior dog (age 7 years or older).
There is a pet shop inside open to the public.
No, there's an adoption fee for all animals. You can give the fees online at citydogsrescuedc.org
No. It's a daycare where you can drop your dog off to play with other dogs.
Hi Kyle, One of our applications screeners reached out to you via email. Regal has several applications on a wait list. Please let us know if you have further questions. Thank you for choosing rescue!
Only if you adopted from them. If you have to surrender your pet please consider going to Humane Rescue Alliance
If you adopted them from City Dogs contact them on the website. If you didn't adopt from City Dogs you will need to surrender to another rescue. Try the Humane Rescue Alliance
CDR&CK charges an adoption fee of $175 for cats and kittens. This fee typically includes health care provided when the cat or kitten leaves the municipal shelter to join City Dogs Rescue & City Kitties and before adoption: initial veterinarian exam, all age-appropriate rabies, distemper, and bordetella vaccinations, flea and heartworm prevention prior to adoption, spay/neuter procedure, microchip when available, SNAP test for FIV / FeLV Tests, and pre-adoption health care for dogs over the age of 1 year as needed. We expect all adopters to make their own vet appointment within 3 weeks of adoption. For reference, here is the list of our post-shelter veterinary requirements for cats. All cats receive this care upon leaving the shelter and prior to transport to DC: 1. Physical Exam 2. Spay/Neuter 3. Test for BOTH FeLV and FIV; Heartworm test if available 4. Rabies vaccination 5. FVRCP vaccination 6. FeLV vaccination 7. Microchip 8. Fecal flotation 9. Dewormer
We don't have a GSD puppy at this time and you would most likely have better luck starting your search with a GSD rescue. The dog adoption fee is $395 ($200 for seniors ). This fee typically includes health care provided when the dog leaves the municipal shelter to join City Dogs Rescue & City Kitties and before adoption: initial veterinarian exam and pre-adoption health care for dogs over the age of 1 year as needed. The fee for puppies is $395, but does not include the cost of spaying and neutering. All adopters of puppies are required by contract to have their adopted dog spayed or neutered when age appropriate (typically at 5 months of age). Because of their weak immune systems, puppies must be vetted for a longer period of time and kept away from other animals to ensure that they are healthy. Puppies require vaccines starting at approximately 6 weeks of age.
Hi Dalashawn. They aren't sold. The fee covers the costs of their vetting, spay/neuter, microchip, and transport to DC. These rescue expenses easily exceed our adoption fees.
