My puppy dog was vomiting and I was concerned about dehydration. I took him there and they evaluated him, offered recommendations that were reasonable based on his exam. Everyone was very kind despite it being extremely busy. Prices were good considering it is an emergency room. Hope I don’t have to go back but would use them if I did. Picture added for cuteness.

On Wednesday, June 15th, I rushed my 15 year old dog Bebo to the vet for concerns about his balance. Prior to arriving, I called MedVet and explained my concerns and they took all of our information and was encouraged to bring him in to be further evaluated. I indicated that Bebo appeared to have an ear infection and was wondering if that could cause the balance issues. When I arrived to the hospital, the tech immediately shared that his ear could not have caused this without even confirming whether he had an ear infection. Eventually, the doctor came into the room and shared that Bebo’s vitals were normal but there was no mention of his ear being swabbed for infection. The doctor indicated the following potential causes for his presentation: Bebo either had a stroke or was suffering from a tumor on the right side of his brain. They shared that steroids could be an option but he would likely not make a fully recovery. Following this, the doctor said that Bebo’s function would ultimately diminish and that they could put him down that evening and would give me a few minutes to think about it. I was stunned to hear the words, “we can put him down for you.” This was a conclusion that the doctors were ready for without any confirmatory tests to indicate that the possible causes were indeed the reason for his presentation. My mind went blank as I thought about the 15 years I shared with Bebo. This “solution” lacked empathy, was inconsiderate of his overall health and ability to recover. I sat and cried in the cold exam room as I attempted to process what was said to me. I trusted in what the doctors said and felt like there was no hope left. I waited for what felt like hours and finally decided to leave. The doctors shared that I could follow up with a neurologist but that it could be risky given his age and his current condition. I couldn’t shake the idea of having my beloved Bebo put down. After leaving the hospital, we arrived home and Bebo appeared fine. He was still circling but was able to relieve himself outside and have a small snack. The next day I made an appointment with our regular vet who attended to us immediately. When we arrived to our vet they were surprised to see how Bebo was. They shared that the medical records submitted from MedVet described him as a dog who would possibly need to be carried outside to urinate and defecate and be hand fed if he could not make it to his water/food bowl. Our regular vet shared that he could possibly have a tumor or a middle ear infection causing the lack of balance. They offered antibiotics and steroids as a solution and did not once consider putting him down. They even shared that for a 15 year old dog, he is in great shape! There, they completed bloodwork, swabbed his ears, checked his vitals, and confirmed that his sensory skills were still intact. I share this to bring attention to the lack of empathy I was met with during my visit with MedVet. I hope the professionals at MedVet could consider the time we spend with our pets. Bebo isn’t just a dog to me, he’s family and hearing that a possible solution was to put him down after spending 15 years together and minimal medical issues was heartbreaking.

The staff was super caring for our kitty and explained everything thoroughly. They did not run unnecessary tests, but explained all our options and what they advised. I was very happy with services.

Charlie had shoulder pains and was suffering at home. We drove to MedVet and were instructed to call from the parking lot (COVID protocols). I was told the wait may be up to 2 hours, but they came out to pick up Charlie in about 40-50min. They took great care of him and told me what to discuss with our main vet after the weekend. Thank you MedVet.

I will need to have an MRI done on my Belgian tervuren but need to know an estimated cost beforehand. Can you give me an idea of what I might be looking at?

I would suggest calling for a more accurate estimate, but $2500-$3500 is a ballpark estimate based on other practices in the region. Best of luck!
