An amazing non-profit organization that helps homeless families regain jobs, housing and quality of life that has been diminished by unfortunate circumstances. The organization does this work through donations, church congregations, and volunteers.

Family Promise South Sarasota County is a nationwide faith-based non-profit that helps families with young children in crisis and transition by providing safety, shelter and meals for them. The families are housed in various houses of worship and cared for by their volunteers. I have been fortunate to have been with Family Promise South Sarasota County during its developmental stages over the past several years. In the fall of 2015, we started accepting our families for the first time. Now almost 2 years later, we have served 28 families, 62 children and 100 people total! The average stay in the program is 52 days. While in the program, families receive counseling help with finances and tenants rights. New workshops for families will start this fall and will include Parenting and Child Development, Credit, Legal Aid and Nutrition. Family Promise South Sarasota County is constantly growing and changing to find new avenues to better serve our families. Once people learn about the program they are eager to become involved as volunteers and financial donors. As one father in our program told me a few months ago, "Family Promise has been a real blessing for me and my family for it has provided safety and security and peace of mind knowing my family has been cared for in a nurturing way." What a joy to be part of a group that helps families move forward towards independence!

Family Promise is a National Not For Profit that provides services to those families who are temporarily without a home . Family Promise of South Sarasota County is located in Venice and serves the areas of Englewood, North Port and Venice. A variety of Services are provided including case management, education and are temporarily housed and fed in local churches . Our Church, Unity of Venice participated in the Program and provides housing during the year for families. Dedicated staff and wonderful volunteers provide services at the Day Care Center in Venice. Many kinds of support and Services are provided, on an as needed basis. We are very proud to be supporting Family Promise in our community!
