I visited six different Memory Care facilities to find the right fit for my father. Inspired Living has a loving and caring staff. They keep the residents engaged with activities to keep their minds active and alert. They also offer “field trips” that the residents really enjoy. The facility feels like a luxury hotel and the outdoor area was by far superior to any of the other facilities I had considered. Lovely walking paths, green grass, beautiful trees and a large gazebo. My father often comments on how delicious the food is and is happy with his new friends. Overall I am very pleased with Inspired Living.

I hope no one else has to go through what we did. We were falsely led and lied to at this facility. We were told about the wonderful food, all of the engaging activities and caring staff. My father was a difficult case and we were also assured they had the knowledge base, skill level and trained staff to handle his specific needs. NONE of that was true. Their memory care information specifically talks about “Individualized Care” and a “unique approach to behavior management and redirection”. From what we observed, first hand, that approach involved completely ignoring a resident that was brand new to the facility. A resident that had no cognitive awareness of his own to know where he was, who was around him or how to do anything. A scary and frustrating thing for anyone, let alone someone that cannot begin to comprehend all of the changes that were happening. We were assured staff would assist my dad with transitioning and adjusting to the facility. But instead, my mom had to spend the entire week with him during the day because no one else did anything with him. The nurses passed him his meds and were helpful in the morning and evening trying to help him but they had no other assistance and a lot of responsibilities between all of the residents. No one offered any activities or engagement. There was only 1 day out of 6 that my dad was even offered a snack. My mom had to do everything for my dad, including cleaning his room and bathroom as the cleaning staff walked out the day after my dad arrived and his room and bathroom were filthy. We were told that most of their staff was out with COVID but they were adequately staffed with agency staff. Adequate staff by numbers is not the same as trained, competent, caring staff-which is what is promised on Inspired Living’s website. Whether they were agency staff or not, no one was around. My mom did not witness one activity the entire week. Residents were just sleeping in hallways and no one was engaged in anything. We were also told that was because both activity directors were out with COVID. This has been a hard year for everyone, but our family members need to be cared for whether a key staff member is sick or on vacation or quits. We are paying for quality, professional care and they need to follow through with their commitments and promises to their residents and that is not happening. My dad was not cared for. I do not want to even imagine how much worse it would have been if my mom had not been there to do everything for him during the day. He is no longer at Inspired Living. We researched so many facilities in the effort to find the perfect place for my dad. Inspired said all of the right things, were friendly and helpful and made all kinds of wonderful statements about the facility. However, once we signed the contract and moved my dad in, nothing was done as was promised. It has been a truly awful experience, please do not send your loved ones here. Keep looking and visit at different times of the day-BEFORE you decide to move in your loved one. Read the contract thoroughly and make sure everything you were promised is written in the contract. It is hard and exhausting and a huge commitment to place a loved one in memory care and the facility you choose should recognize that and be honest, caring and trustworthy and not misleading and dangerous. It is so disheartening to be blatantly lied to and misled when you are already dealing with the difficult decision to turn your loved ones care over to someone else. I wish we had known these things about Inspired before we placed my dad. Since removing him, I realized that a lot of the positive reviews on here are written by people that work for Inspired Living. We did find out from medical professionals that they were once a nice facility but they have gone downhill.

Inspired Living is a wonderful place for folks with memory difficulties. As difficult a decision as it can be to have a loved one away from you, the compassionate care they provide is unmatched. The staff members are patient and professional. They are very attentive to people's individual needs and preferences, such as music and exercise. They really seem to get to know their residents well. They encourage participation and make activities fun. They have a daily schedule of things to do, including field trips and entertainment. The activity directors are stellar (Hi Chami and Maggie!), as are all the nurses, caretakers, kitchen staff and administrators. The schedule and structure is very helpful for those with cognitive decline. The facility is lovely and clean, and the rooms are spacious. The Mediterranean diet-based food is healthy and also very good. The grounds are well maintained and there is a extensive outdoor area where residents can freely and safely walk and relax outside as well. Memory loss can be a very difficult process. We are so glad to have Inspired Living of Sarasota to help us try and make it easier.

I was looking at options for my father in law, and I found Inspired Living to offer a lovely interior, creative activities and engaged staff. I was impressed by their advanced tracking capabilities to that can pin point a resident's location at any time. I was especially pleased by the staff's understanding of the progression of dementia and how to engage people at every phase in a way that maintains dignity.

Inspired Living Sarasota | Nov 6, 2021

Yes, Teresa is correct. We welcome residents and their small cat or dog, but they do need to be able to care for them. We know how important the bond is between animal lovers and pets and want to be sure our residents can enjoy the comfort of cuddling with their furry friend.
