HORRIBLE!!! We had to move my dad into a memory care home and the administration of Arden Court assured my stepmom and I that they could care for my dad. They assured us a lot of things and failed on all regards. The twin bed in the closet of a room was too small for my dad so we bought a new $2000 La-Z-Boy chair so he could be comfortable, after 2 days of the chair being in his room it reeked of urine, they did not assist my dad to the toilet, they did. not put a pad on the chair, he sat in his urine and the room was so smelly. When we would visit they would not even have the window cracked. We also saw his meals were put on the table next to his bed and never given to him and they never took him into the dining room. White bread with some horrible looking meat and a twinkie. I am not kidding. We started to come in to feed him. They also said there was internet in the rooms so we bought a tv so my dad could watch his sports, no internet and they broke the base to the tv when installing it. The worse part was my dad was so uncomfortable from the wet pads they rarely changed on the chair, he would try to adjust himself in his chair and many times he fell out and would be bleeding. We went in to see him daily and one day he was on the floor. Another day they called 911 to help him off the floor because they did not have staff to lift him. They refused to give him pain medication for his back. My dad was a fine man and this was the most egregious failure of care I have ever heard of. His decency was erased in the days he spent there. He was not even there a month and we called hospice to do an evaluation and they immediately removed him and he passed 6 days later. At Tidewell Hospice, which is a beautiful place with an amazing staff. Thankfully my dad's last days were at Tidewell and not this horrible disgusting place.

my mother-in-law moved into this facility in October. She has been calm and compliments the care every time we speak to her, or meet on the porch. She has made friends. She especially likes the gardens and walking paths.

My husband has been at Arden Courts for over 3 months. He had a difficult transition, but he has settled in and is very comfortable now with his surroundings. He especially enjoys the freedom of being able to walk anywhere (within the property) anytime. The staff calls him "a traveler." Recently I wanted to celebrate his birthday a little early to coincide with a visit from an out-of-state son and daughter-in-law. The staff, especially the Activities Director, made sure a separate room was prepared for us to have the celebration. They provided a chocolate cake, vanilla ice cream, juice, water - even some specially ordered O'Doul's non-alcohol beer, which my husband reached toward immediately, with glee. Big Happy Birthday lettering was on the wall, and a bunch of balloons rose from a centerpiece on the table. The four of us had a very happy time. Also recently, one of the activities staff stopped me during a walk-around with my husband to tell me that he'd held a special service on a recent Sunday evening that my husband attended. At the end, my husband, who often has difficulty with language, went over to this lovely man and said, "Very uplifting." I cannot recommend Arden Courts of Sarasota enough. In my opinion, it's the right place for anyone with dementia.

This is an excellent place for a person with memory problems. It is a peaceful home-like residence where the resident is treated with dignity and respect. The four individual living and dining areas make it so comfortable and calming for the resident. It is always peaceful and calm and the residents are safe. They can go outside in a enclosed yard at thier will. The activites are suited to the persons needs. The caregivers, as all the staff, are kind and know how to treat the residents and their issues. Never a raised voice or an attitude toward the resident. My Mom has been a resident for the past five years. I'm so glad my Mom is able to live there, she is safe and content. It's really a GREAT place!!
