The visitor center has a lot of hype, but it was a let down. It is designed for day boating and really doesn't offer biker services... like a decent bike rack. There is no playground. The bike access is not directly from the park. You have to cross a busy road and railroad track both crossings are not designed for bike trailers or multiple bikes, or passing. Does have a nice view of the river and bridge.

The trail was excellent, nice bike ride thru the canopy of trees, hugging the river. Some great places to stop and explore! And a shout out to the young lady working the visitor center in Columbia on Memorial Day, she was great!

Easy to find with great views of the river from the veranda. There is a handicap ramp which can be used from the rear side of the building. You can access boat ramps from the center's parking lot but not the walking path. If you want to use the walking paths, you'll have to walk out to the entrance, cross the rail tracks, and a cross walk at a 3-way intersection to begin the trail. There are restroom facilities available. The veranda has rocking chairs which are lined around the veranda in front of the railings which make sitting and watching the river relaxing or watching a small event on the yard easy. There one or two medium sized tables on the veranda which means it shouldn't be too crowded or difficult to find seating if you want to have lunch in the shade and still have views of the river.

The center is pretty interesting, has few exhibits inside about animals and a bit of history too. Beautiful view of the river and the bridge from this place. The trail is a bit tricky, as it goes through some roads and traffic lights. But then gets better with some nice walk in the woods. The trail is nicely paved for the most part.

I'm wondering if there's enough water there that one can launch a small motor boat ( jonboat ) and motor downstream to access lake area just above the dam ( Longlevel )?

Yes, the launch is concrete and 2/3 boats can launch at the same time. Not to steep, just watch out for all the goose poop..lol...It to the right of the visitors center.

The same thing that goes over the road leading up to the bridge. No trains though. You can walk across if you're into that sort of thing.

I went Saturday and it was not. Now having even more snow I'm sure it's not. But Wednesday is going to be in the upper 50s so good chance it will then!
