We spent a week here and had an amazing time. Very close to some great hikes and gorgeous views! Only a short jaunt to Robbinsville where they have a grocery store for supplies. If you stay here spots 14-17 are the prime spots ,for sure, and would be well worth the walk in to those tent sites. The camp host was very nice and made us feel welcome. If we ever get back to NC we will definitely stay here again!

Place is fairly well maintained. Very convenient to boat ramp and beach. Showers we had, the lightening and fan did not operate. I had to take a flashlight in to shower. Poor drainage in dressing area after getting poo ut of shower. Sites are well maintained and everyone was friendly.

One of the favorite campground in NC. I recommend to stay in 14-17 sites. Showers, clean and rocks for jumping in lake ))

Are the tent sites wooded/shaded? I cannot find a site map and wondered if they were just open or secluded at all...

Most tent sites are shaded and others are depended on time of day. There are secluded sites and more open sites. Nice camp ground

Yes, there are several paths that lead down to the water's edge. We used these for parking the boats, but fishing, swimming, parking boats: it all works.

Do the tent sites tend to get filled up on the weekends? Looking to drive in from 5 hours away on a Friday in July, and I'm wondering if I should expect to have a shot at getting a tent site.

Yes they do. I assumed because all the reserveable sites were taken a month in advance, that the first come first serve sites would be scarce. I left Raleigh at 4am and managed to grab a site at 10am last Friday morning (mid June). All the other sites were occupied. I feel lucky!

Is there a power source available for charging batteries for rv trolling motors etc?

We were able to plug our RV in at the campsite we stayed at a few weeks ago.
