If you made the reservation with the airline directly, then you should be fine. If you made through a 3rd party, you might have a problem. The terminals in SLC have multiple concourses, so the walk could be substantial.

Both terminals have mail drop boxes beyond security screening. In Terminal One, the mailbox is located near the top of Concourse A. In Terminal Two, the mailbox is on the connector between Concourses C and D, near the Delta Sky Club. Stamps are available at post-security ATMs and at select newsstands.

It took me literally 45 mins to walk from the C concourse to the curb. Then because of the poor signage, I was at the wrong curb and had to go back inside and upstairs and back downstairs. Totally frustrating and NOT intuitive. Definitely NOT better than the old configuration.

The only way you are getting past security without a boarding pass is by having a GATE PASS. A gate pass is to escort minors, elderly relatives and military members.
