Amanda was easily the most professional and thoughtful massage therapist experience I've ever had. Her love for her work (craft) is obvious in every aspect of her business. 😊

I'm so grateful for Amanda! After going to multiple physical therapists, a podiatrist and accupuncturist, I was still feeling pain in my ankle. I was introduced to Amanda and Hendrickson Method and it totally changed my life. Amanda is a great practitioner who does amazing body work and also gives exercises and recommendations to reduce pain between sessions. She usually comes to my house but I've also seen her at an office in downtown San Rafael. I can't recommend her more highly!

Amanda has been the best thing to happen to my lower back and hip flexor muscles. This lady knows her stuff and always brings a positive therapeutic result to my issues. I wouldn’t see anyone else.

Whether for speeding healing from an injury or regular tune-up, clearing and reinvigoration, I go to Amanda for therapeutic body work . She listens carefully and tailors each session to what help most at the time and is upbeat while being realistic. She also has given me tips/exercises to help healing after the session. So knowledgeable about anatomy and body mechanics with wisdom and training to draw on.

Questions & Answers

Why did you become a massage therapist?

I love movement, fitness, and health. As a former competitive swimmer I was given massage and gave it to teammates. I learned how massage therapy helped performance! I also experienced the somatic and relaxation benefits while pregnant with my son. Lastly, clinical massage helped me when I had a serious injury. I love what I do and look forward to assisting clients feel their best.

When do you offer Warm Stone Massage?

I integrate it with deep tissue massage when late fall/winter sets in. I like to offer a mix of spa and clinical approaches when the weather is rainy and cold. I feel the need for more nurturing myself after major holidays or seasonal shifts!

Do you only see clients at your office?

I can schedule sessions onsite at work or home by appointment.

Do you use oils or lotion?

I use organic massage lotion for therapeutic massage sessions and organic body oil for warm stone massage. I use a little bit of lotion for Hendrickson Method on the feet or forearms.

Why should I schedule with you? What sets you apart from other massage therapists in Petaluma?

I have 20 years of experience in spa, clinical, and private practice environments. I have familiarity in working with emotional trauma, acute and chronic pain, and clients of all ages and health conditions. Each session is customized to the client's goals and a thorough assessment/post treatment assessment is given.

How often should I get orthopedic/medical massage?

Amanda Wongsonegoro, CMT | Sep 1, 2020
Amanda Wongsonegoro, CMT | Sep 1, 2020

It depends on your situation. An acute injury typically benefits from 1-2 shorter sessions a week (30 hour increments) while a chronic joint condition can improve with one longer session a week for a minimum of 4 to 6 sessions. I offer package pricing for both these scenarios.

Can I get a massage with a new injury?

Amanda Wongsonegoro, CMT | Sep 1, 2020

Yes. I offer light massage to areas around the injury and use Hendrickson Method Massage and Manual Therapy to specifically reduce pain and increase joint function to the injured area.
