Total crooks. My Georgia home was burglarized in May of 2015. I filed a police report. Since I live close to Chattanooga, I often shop at pawn shops in town. In August, I went to Cash America to shop for tools, where I discovered my stolen belongings on the shelf. I notified the manager and called the Chattanooga PD, who sent an officer to take a report. I provided receipts and serial numbers for ALL of the items. The person who stole my property was dumb enough to use their own ID and is was confirmed that the serial numbers indeed matched. However, Tennessee law requires that a conviction must be had in order for the pawn shop to surrender stolen property to the rightful owner. Since the burglary happened out of state, it fell upon Georgia to make the arrest, and prosecute the individual. GA refused to prosecute, claiming that there was not enough evidence to garner a conviction because no fingerprints were found, no witnesses, etc. Tennessee could not legally enforce the return of the items to me, because the burglary happened outside of their jurisdiction, and GA's District Attorney refused to prosecute the individual. I contacted the main office of Cash America in Texas and informed them of the problem, that my property was on their shelf about to be sold and forever lost. Again, I provided ALL the receipts and serial numbers to the items, totaling $2,876. Cash America REFUSED to even remove the items from the shelf, even ADMITTING that they knew the items were stolen. So in the end, Cash America KNOWINGLY sold $2,876 worth of verified stolen property. They are CROOKS and I would recommend that anyone who deals with them to keep that in mind.

I bought a laptop from them and it was broken. They tried to get me to swap it out for another one they had but it didn't work either. I tried to negotiate on another laptop price that was $50 more than I paid for the broken laptop and I was denied, but they let a young white guy buy a guitar for $250 when the original price was $350.
